Due to a root canal gone bad, I could not get my second part of free-agent running backs and keeper leagues completed. I will say this: I would only wish a toothache on my worst enemies. Yes, I have no heart, so what, I said enemies! Regardless, here is the second part of the running back and keeper league blog. Some repetitive but important notes from Part I:
In keeper leagues never view a player as untouchable. What makes keeper leagues cool, there is always someone in your league, just like a real NFL owner who will overpay for a player!
Running backs can make an immediate impact, but their value depends on the style of running back they are, how they fit into the team’s system and, obviously, what their role will be. How good is the offensive line and can the other skill positions, specifically the quarterback position, help keep defenses honest – each of these also plays a part.
I don’t waive running backs that will see enough playing time to warrant keeping as depth. They are the most volatile position with injuries so having quality depth is the key to success.
I’ll be piggy-backing off our free-agent analysis tables that came out in late February. I’ll link to that article each time I do a position. Running backs: http://www.kffl.com/article.php/100188/74
