Matt Cassel traded to Kansas City Chiefs

matt-cassel-134x75aThe 2009 NFL free-agent market got off to a bang Friday and hasn’t slowed down. However, the highlight so far may be the New England Patriots trading quarterback Matt Cassel to the Kansas City Chiefs along with linebacker Mike Vrabel.

The Chiefs may have got a steal, too, as it just cost them a second-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft.

Cassel knows the Patriots’ system and the “Patriots’ way of life.” It is important that is not completely lost in this whole thing, despite him being a starter for basically just one season.

You almost have to feel bad for quarterback Tyler Thigpen, though. Despite the fact the Chiefs stunk last year, Thigpen was one of the few bright spots in the offense considering he was basically the team’s No. 3 quarterback when the season started. Now he will be relegated to backup for the foreseeable future.

Not really sure what to think about this trade. Personally, I think Thigpen just got screwed!
