Titans

Jake Locker has a separated non-throwing shoulder and really shouldn't be high on your list of startable players. Keep him on your bench, as one good hit could prematurely end his day.

It's never a good sign when you rack up fewer rushing yards than carries! San Diego's run defense appears stout, but they'll willingly give you every underneath RB checkdown you want to take ... 13, to be precise. PPR owners should consider Chris Johnson in what should be a rebound game.

Nate Washington (calf) is banged up, and Kenny Britt (knee) will be limited to less than 25 snaps as he returns from suspension. San Diego won't have a hard time containing Kendall Wright with safety shades. Your safest play on a team with a hurting second-year QB is tight end Jared Cook.

Chargers

Philip Rivers will have to sling the ball around even with Ryan Mathews' expected return. It seems unlikely the Bolts will rely heavily on Mathews in his first game back. Start No. 17 and reap the rewards.

Mathews (clavicle) is reportedly expected to play in Week 2, although we feel he'll be on a snap count of sorts. Play him with caution, if you must.

Malcom Floyd (all formats), Robert Meachem (deep leagues) and Eddie Royal (PPR) all should be playable options. Antonio Gates really should be considered a wide receiver in fantasy football. He is their best weapon. Period.

Chargers latest news and notes

Chargers | Chad Rinehart expected to be LG

San Diego Chargers OG Chad Rinehart is expected to be the starting left guard this season.

Chargers | Robert Meachem has some hope to improve

San Diego Chargers WR Robert Meachem is still buried on the depth chart, but this new offense gives him a shot to produce more than he did last year.

Chargers | Ryan Mathews says he's been average, makes changes

San Diego Chargers RB Ryan Mathews said he's "been just an average back." After bulking up last year in an effort to absorb hits more effectively, he has leaned out this year while also incorporating different stretches to stay flexible. Mathews is also studying more, specifically changing and working on understanding his blocking technique.

Chargers | Antonio Gates looks quick and fit

San Diego Chargers TE Antonio Gates, who turns 33 next week, has looked quick and fit in workouts this offseason. He's been using his height advantage against defenders in non-pads work.

Chargers | Confident in Dwight Freeney

San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy is confident in OLB Dwight Freeney. There are concerns that Freeney is out of place if he's not a 4-3 defensive end, but McCoy said the veteran will fit in because San Diego often uses multiple looks on passing downs.
