That is considered a tick or two slower than usual. Iwakuma is still building arm strength. The team gave him a variety of looks in the sim game, making him field bunts, cover first base, throw pickoff moves to first and face batters. "I was able to focus like a regular game," Iwakuma said. "I felt a lot better. My feel for the game is coming back gradually. I felt a lot better than the last time when we did a sim game in Miami."

There is something to that, as he has a 7-12 record with a 5.48 ERA in September when the weather turns cool, but a 57-36 mark from May 1 through August 31 in his career, with the highest ERA of any month at 4.04 during that span.
