Who are Yu … Darvish?

Colby Lewis, SP, Texas Rangers

Hope Yu is more like Lewis ...

Imports always feature more allure - bootleg concerts, beers, women ... there's just something untapped about them we desire to explore. If some reports hold up, the fantasy baseball world might get another one next season: Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, who has posted a torrid career for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and is considered by many the best hurler prospect ever in his country. Commence the hype machine. While watching him pitch, it's hard to pause it.

More bam for Han-Ram? Plus Brandon Webb and Kevin Youkilis

Worried about Hanley Ramirez's power? Seems you're allowed to be, right? His fly-ball and liner rates dropped from '09. His ISO tanked to something around the Florida Marlins' attendance.

Take a look at his Hot off the Wire page, though, for why: injuries. Nagging, persistent injuries. Condemning his ability to stay healthy? Perhaps, because of the mileage already on his body at age 27. He has been a peak player for at least one or two seasons – think the Clinton Portis of the MLB, to a degree. Fantasy Baseball Face-to-Face: Phil Hughes

Hey, Phil Hughes. Not Philip, I get that. How ya doin'? Ah, right, it's Game 6, and you just got the hook. So the rest of the New York Yankees are probably as nervous as I am.

Now that you're on the pine, I want to chat a sec, K?

I don't like your four-seam fastball. Opponents do, though.

There. I said it. People say, quick like a Band-Aid, right? Tap your mouse here for more »

Fantasy Baseball Player Prospecting 2010: Mitch Moreland, Texas Rangers

Texas Rangers 1B/OF Mitch Moreland

How much more of Moreland will we see?

The trade of Justin Smoak and the demotion of Chris Davis allowed first baseman Mitch Moreland to join the Texas Rangers' lineup. First base looks to be the lefty stick's job to lose, even with recently acquired Jorge Cantu playing against some righties.

Moreland, 25 in September, has seven hits in his first 25 at-bats, with two RBIs, three hits and two stolen bases. The 2007 17th-round pick used to be a two-way player but eventually ditched his mid-90s fastball to focus on batter's box duty.

Neftali Feliz, Neftali triste

Neftali Feliz and I have a checkered trade history this season. With a first-place standing in saves for our KFFL Internal League (where I've hovered between seventh and ninth place overall for the last few months), I traded him to KFFL's Keith Hernandez for Ryan Ludwick (pre-injury). Hernandez was in an optimal spot for me to send saves (keeping Nicholas Minnix out of moving up in the category).

With Ludwick's injury, I'm a little sad, though. "Triste," if you will.

(Still, this allowed me to swap Corey Hart to William Del Pilar for Dan Haren yesterday - I had another outfielder capable of producing a suitable second half once he comes back from the DL. My shaky SP made this move necessary.)

Texas Rangers' Nelson Cruz hits the DL again

The Texas Rangers have placed OF Nelson Cruz (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list with a strained left hamstring, reports The Associated Press. Manager Ron Washington said the team put Cruz through some tests Sunday, May 30, and he did not respond well. Washington is hopeful Cruz will rejoin the team after the minimum 15 days.

Fantasy Baseball Drop Zone: Julio Borbon, Texas Rangers

Fantasy Baseball Drop Zone examines the fantasy baseball value of Julio Borbon, the speedy but struggling Texas Rangers outfielder who scuffled hitting leadoff in 2010.

Julio Borbon (Texas Rangers) hasn't rewarded his owners' faith in him building on his stolen base prowess that showed up with him last year (19 steals in 157 MLB at-bats).

Plate discipline is his biggest issue: His 17.5 K percentage isn't terrible, but his 1.6 walk percentage is. Though it's abnormally low, his .213 BABIP checks out - relatively so - since his line-drive percentage is a famished 11.6 percent and his groundball percentage has dropped a bit to 46.5 percent. He has struggled against lefties, too - the team's main concern for him heading into this season as leadoff man. Tap your mouse here for more »
