Who are Yu … Darvish?

Hope Yu is more like Lewis ...
Imports always feature more allure - bootleg concerts, beers, women ... there's just something untapped about them we desire to explore. If some reports hold up, the fantasy baseball world might get another one next season: Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, who has posted a torrid career for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and is considered by many the best hurler prospect ever in his country. Commence the hype machine. While watching him pitch, it's hard to pause it.

Hope for Brandon Wood, empathy for John Lackey and support for MLB chitchat
Happy Jason Voorhees Day! In honor of the masked slasher, I've decided to cut through my notebook.
Positive signs for those who took a chance on the Pittsburgh Pirates' Brandon Wood: This week he worked on hitting curveballs in practice, focusing on taking ball back up middle. His hands are higher, and MLB Network's Tom Verducci said Wood now looks like Alex Rios in the box. Manager Clint Hurdle is a solid source of instruction for hitters. Tap your mouse here for more »
More bam for Han-Ram? Plus Brandon Webb and Kevin Youkilis
Worried about Hanley Ramirez's power? Seems you're allowed to be, right? His fly-ball and liner rates dropped from '09. His ISO tanked to something around the Florida Marlins' attendance.
Take a look at his Hot off the Wire page, though, for why: injuries. Nagging, persistent injuries. Condemning his ability to stay healthy? Perhaps, because of the mileage already on his body at age 27. He has been a peak player for at least one or two seasons – think the Clinton Portis of the MLB, to a degree. Close the door on paying for fantasy baseball closers?
Recently I joined 11 other fantasy baseball industry folk for the annual USA Today fantasy baseball magazine mock draft - my second foray in this early offseason gauge. Grab the glossy when it hits newsstands in February.
Read on for my rapid reaction on a glaring draft trend and to sound off in a fantasy baseball poll. Tap your mouse here for more »
Carl Crawford and more Hot Stove sizzles
The Boston Red Sox's latest coup came in the form of speedy outfielder Carl Crawford.
Maybe Fenway Park knocks off some homers, but the rest of his fantasy contributions should remain stable. Tap your mouse here for more »
Fantasy baseball keeper: Francisco Liriano or Clay Buchholz?
As I trolled through KFFL.com's fantasy baseball forums, this question caught my eye:
"In SEBL, we can keep one batter and one pitcher that were selected after the third round. If we keep a player, we forfeit our draft pick in the original round they were drafted. So, which of these two pitchers - both who were selected in the 16th round (meaning I would forfeit my 16th round pick) - would you keep:

Boston Red Sox place Victor Martinez on the DL
Boston Red Sox C Victor Martinez (thumb) will not need surgery on his left thumb, but the team will place him on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, June 29, reports The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham, citing sources. If the team places Martinez on the disabled list, he would miss only 11 games over a span of 17 days before the Red Sox play the Texas Rangers after the All-Star break. The team is expected to call up C Gustavo Molina from Triple-A Pawtucket. Tap your mouse here for more »

Josh Beckett: close to cutting his struggles
Earlier this season, we at KFFL recommended Josh Beckett as a steady, undervalued fantasy baseball ace. This was before he cashed in on a four-year extension. We don't want to say money has made him complacent, but it makes him an easier target.
Anyway.
Like Boston Red Sox teammate Jon Lester, Beckett has been lit up like The Pru, being tagged for more than five runs in an outing three starts out of five, including his three-inning, eight-run disaster Monday.
