Trevor Cahill swap, a.k.a. Statistics vs. Scouting: Round … well, I’ve lost count

Cahill worth it?
You want me to speak?
When I point at you, yeah.
OK, my turn.
I guess Billy Beane is riding high off the success of the Moneyball movie - well, as high as the Oakland Athletics would set him up to do. He just fleeced Kevin Towers' Arizona Diamondbacks in bringing the talented Jarrod Parker to the Oakland Athletics.
We'll have more on this deal in Monday's Fantasy Baseball Hot Stove, but here's a rant to tide you over. Tap your mouse here for more »
Edwin Jackson sent to mechanic, passes inspection
I'm buying Edwin Jackson to bounce back in the last two months of the season.
Well, maybe I'm forced to, at least for my KFFL Baseball AL Experts League team, which acquired Jackson in last week's flurry of post-trade deadline waiver acquisitions. Tap your mouse here for more »
The Tortoise and the Dan Haren, and All's Randy Wells
The Arizona Diamondbacks proved this past weekend that sabermetrics and other fantasy baseball nerdifications haven't penetrated every front office in Major League Baseball.
Joe Saunders? Really? That's the headliner you get in exchange for Dan Haren, he of perpetually top-notch dominance and eliteitude?
Sorry, kids, the Haren won this race. The Snakes are now the tortoise, hoping for a slow and steady growth.

Does shorter swing Mark Reynolds' batting average upside?
Off the Mark? That's what Arizona Diamondbacks coaches are admitting in full force for Mark Reynolds, who fanned four times Saturday and was given the day off Sunday by equally tortured skipper A.J. Hinch.
Reynolds has 107 K's under his hole-filled swing belt this year and is hitting just .164 for June heading into Monday's action.

Fantasy Baseball: Curtis Granderson, Edwin Jackson and Max Scherzer swapped

The Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees and Arizona Diamondbacks completed a proposed three-way trade that has headlined the action at the 2009 Winter Meetings. The Yankees received center fielder Curtis Granderson; Arizona nabbed starting pitchers Edwin Jackson and Ian Kennedy; and the Tigers netted prospect outfielder Austin Jackson, starter Max Scherzer and relievers Daniel Schlereth and Phil Coke. Brandon Webb, Chris Carpenter, Adam Lind, Kyle Davies and more

Welcome to the Happy Hour edition of Rounding the Bases. Each week, Tim Heaney takes you around the majors with his spin on fantasy baseball trends, news highlights and player scouting. He welcomes you to join him as he circles the bags at his admirably slow pace.
Pregame
Before we start our trip today, KFFL's condolences go out to the friends and family of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim starting pitcher Nick Adenhart, who was taken too soon.
Taking a pitch
Brandon Webb was supposed to be a safe innings eater. After the righty with the bowling ball sinker led the majors in frames tossed over the previous four calendar years, maybe we should've seen this coming? Tap your mouse here for more »
