Let the fantasy baseball prep party begin!

David Freese, 3B, St. Louis Cardinals

Don't Freese after World Series

Game 7 of the World Series will (hopefully) be done in a few hours. After that, it's time to start thinking about your 2012 fantasy baseball season.

Before the "off"season commences, KFFL Baseball wants to invite you to the five-month party between the end of the World Series and the start of spring training games.

As you might have already noticed, we've been blogging about some notable subjects in the last few weeks. Tap your mouse here for more »

Roy Oswalt, Ryan Madson, Brad Lidge: Philadelphia Phillies in fantasy phlux

Brad Lidge, RP, Philadelphia Phillies

Lidge worth a look?

Today the Philadelphia Phillies declined the 2012 contract options of Roy Oswalt and Brad Lidge. The club reportedly wants to negotiate new deals with both players that fought some nagging injuries but finished the season strong.

Regardless of environment, Oswalt can serve as a capable No. 4 mixed fantasy starting pitcher with upside, if he doesn't retire. Tap your mouse here for more »

Who are Yu … Darvish?

Colby Lewis, SP, Texas Rangers

Hope Yu is more like Lewis ...

Imports always feature more allure - bootleg concerts, beers, women ... there's just something untapped about them we desire to explore. If some reports hold up, the fantasy baseball world might get another one next season: Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, who has posted a torrid career for the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters and is considered by many the best hurler prospect ever in his country. Commence the hype machine. While watching him pitch, it's hard to pause it.

No Philadelphia fantasy football freedom for Ronnie Brown – what now?

Jahvid Best, RB, Detroit Lions

Best not at his best

Jerome Harrison foiled fantasy football owners' dreams of acquiring a promising backup carrier. His injury issues nixed the trade of Ronnie Brown to the Detroit Lions; Brown remains stuck in fantasy football purgatory behind the Philadelphia Eagles' LeSean McCoy and must rely on an injury to have significant non-handcuff value.

What to do if you're scrambling to net the right handcuff for Jahvid Best (concussion)? Tap your mouse here for more »

Brandon Lloyd can totally redeem himself

Brandon Lloyd, WR, Denver Broncos

Christmas coming for Lloyd?

When Tim Tebow was named starting quarterback this week, knee-jerk fantasy response favored Brandon Lloyd, who showed a connection with the polarizing lefty slinger upon the QB switch for Weeks 15-17 last year. But rumors of the Denver Broncos offering up the wideout before Tuesday's NFL trade deadline cloud the 2010 star's potential for the rest of 2011.

Lloyd was already brandished the fantasy bust bull's eye coming into this season thanks to Denver's hiring of John Fox and the presumed implementation of a ground-oriented O. Tap your mouse here for more »

Banking on Lance Berkman repeat a Cardinal sin

Lance Berkman, OF, St. Louis Cardinals

Profit? Lance-not-a-lot

After scuffling through his NLDS, Lance Berkman has rebounded so far by going 3-for-8 with an RBI and two runs. Of course, his 2011 comeback from an injury-riddled 2010 drew much more acclaim, especially to fantasy baseballers.

Though it wasn't the New York Yankees, this St. Louis Cardinals lineup was a prime spot for him to rehab with his proximity to Albert Pujols and Matt Holliday. Berkman's renewed lower-body health and improved ability to drive inside pitches harkened back to his 2007-2009 incarnation, especially in his scorching start to 2011. See his improved line-drive rate with a sustained contact rate and still elite BB/K for the perfect batting average storm.

So how much you laying down on the soon-to-be 36-year-old to do it again? ... I'm waiting.... Tap your mouse here for more »

See you in 2013, Justin Verlander

Justin Verlander, SP, Detroit Tigers

'Twas a nice run, Justin

There are small victories in fantasy baseball, and there's drafting Justin Verlander as a bargain ace in three 2011 leagues. The Detroit Tigers' ace will make his uninterrupted 2011 playoff debut Monday, pitching on three days' rest for his first time ever in the bigs. He'll be making the big bucks in fantasy setups next year.

Unfortunately, I might not own him again until 2013. Tap your mouse here for more »
