Cedric Benson turning himself in, but still beam up Bernard Scott

Scotty knows he can excel
Cedric Benson could serve just a week after checking himself in Wednesday to what he hopes is a reduced jail sentence. This should do wonders for preserving his No. 3 fantasy value; he's probably a decent buy.
But the Cats proved with the trade of Chad Ochocinco and their indifference to Carson Palmer's retirement that they want to move in a different direction. Benson is merely a stopgap, and the shift could begin this season if he does his usual cloud-of-dust routine and Cincy's three-and-outs accumulate. Tap your mouse here for more »
Fantasy football draft recap: Let others IDP freely

Reach for "name" IDPs? No thanks
Pickers in Individual Defensive Player leagues that mix O and D often feel like getting the "best" commodities on the other side of the ball takes precedence over building depth at your traditional fantasy football positions.
Feel free to let other drafters keep thinking that while you take advantage of draft flow and a likely overflow of offensive values. Tap your mouse here for more »
Count me among Jim Thome’s homies

How can you not cheer for Thome?
"Jim Thome just hit the quietest 600th homer in MLB history." (Ugh, a quote lede. Forgive me, Jack.)
Full disclosure: That Thome blurb graced my Facebook wall Monday. Come on, we all plagiarize ourselves. If John Fogerty did it, then it's OK with me.
The Walled statement got some Likes, but it also demands a Repeat button. Tap your mouse here for more »
Raiders’ offense: Denarius Moore to offer?

Moore in store for OAK WRs?
Pinpointing fantasy football value from the Oakland Raiders - outside of their backfield and IDP points - feels like an inebriated game of darts.
A sobering thought would be a Silver and Black snare stepping up. Many have tabbed Jacoby Ford as that guy, mostly as a No. 4 fantasy type. Speed, of course, is a favorite trait of these Raidas.
Even in this desperation stupor, though, post-pick wire scroungers have to at least look into Denarius Moore. Tap your mouse here for more »
Lee Evans trade has Ravens flying, leaves Bills stuck

Evans should fly easier
The Baltimore Ravens had three similar wideouts last year in Anquan Boldin, Derrick Mason and T.J. Houshmandzadeh - possession wideouts, not deep threats.
This clutter of chain-movers threw off the fantasy value that could be extracted from here, and Baltimore often tried to use Boldin as a deep threat. They tried Donte' Stallworth, but he proved useless thanks to a broken foot and ... more his recent uselessness. Tap your mouse here for more »
Go fetch Austin Collie

Risk? What about value?
Fantasy football winners balance risk and reward. Drafters must know how easy it is to cover their ... posterior, let's say, when picking their core.
Prime example for 2011: Austin Collie, whom I took in the fifth round of Monday's PPR mock hosted by the good folks at Mock Draft Central and had a healthy discussion about with the RotoWire folks this morning on Sirius XM Fantasy Sports Radio.
I'm no head doc. The voices swirling around inside my dome will tell you as much. Of course you should be concerned about Collie coming back from his two concussions (at least) last season. Tap your mouse here for more »
Secret’s out on Shonn Greene

Greene w/envy for not drafting him
I'm guessing by his third-round selection in the KFFL Experts Analysis Draft that's going on, the secret is out on Shonn Greene.
In recent 12-team drafts I've done, he has fallen to the late fourth round. I regret passing on him in Round 4 of the FFToolbox best-ball draft I'm in. Tap your mouse here for more »
Marshawn Lynch: bargain Beast Mode

Join the Lynch mob
Aside from his magnificent scamper in last year's playoff upset over the New Orleans Saints, Marshawn Lynch couldn't do much with his carries in 2010.
That's the beauty of last year's results. Many will focus on them and dub Seattle a place for fantasy running games to die. Darrell Bevell's offense, however, should help everyone in this system. Tap your mouse here for more »
