Jeff Karstens: Karma Chameleon

We had fun, right?
We all enjoy finding that waiver-wire pitching gem; you can't peg the volume of breakout or streaking commodities at any other baseball position. But that didn't stop me from dropping Jeff Karstens in Tout Wars mixed last week when I needed to push a trade through.
I won't deny that owning Karstens was fun while it lasted. I'll paraphrase an often repeated - and butchered - quote: "Never regret something that once made you smile." Tap your mouse here for more »
Hellooooooooo, Jeff Niemann

Niemann's own ... -able
In today's Fantasy Windup, Steve Gardner's informatively fun roto blog over at USA Today, I wrote about the chances of Derek Holland, my latest Tout Wars FAAB acquisition, finally capitalizing on his talent.
I'm not losing track of the Tampa Bay Rays' Jeff Niemann, either, especially when you can quote one of the greatest TV shows of all time while talking about him. Tap your mouse here for more »
Chien-Ming Wang rising from the rubble
Remember Chien-Ming Wang? The ground-ball artist whose career has been buried by injuries is rehabbing for the Washington Nationals to the tune of positive reports:
Last night in Harrisburg, Wang made another sterling rehab start, his most impressive performance on any mound in more than two years. He allowed a Class AA lineup no runs in five innings, yielding only two hits and no walks while striking out two and producing a cavalcade of groundballs. He hit 92 miles per hour with his fastball and pitched consistently between 88 and 90. That’s good enough – in 2007, when he won 19 games, Wang’s fastball average 92.7 miles per hour.
Washington has to decide on where Wang will pitch once his 30-day rehab period ends July 27. Tap your mouse here for more »
Captain’s Log: Reflecting on Derek Jeter’s road to 3,000

A long, Hall of Fame ride
All 14 of you who read this blog probably know I cheer for the New York Yankees. The transitive property, therefore, says I admire Derek Jeter, one of the most polarizing figures among baseball fans and analysts.
There hasn't been as much to root for with The Captain over the last one and a half seasons. Mostly, it has been hoping he doesn't GIDP with two on and one out.
Funny, though, how we often bury history in exchange for "What have you done for me lately?" Then, all of a sudden, you look up and "Oh, right, he's two hits away from 3,000." Wow. Tap your mouse here for more »
Embrace Kyle Farnsworth, ditch your bias

Farnsie deserves more credit
Look, we appreciate all fantasy baseball commenters on every avenue of KFFL Baseball. You are the reason we do this.
OK, we enjoy inhale hardball, too, but helping our viewers win keeps us going, especially when we're begrudgingly returning from a three-day weekend.
But comments like this just ... well, here, it explains itself: Tap your mouse here for more »
2011 fantasy baseball first-half All-Stars
