NFL Preseason: Week 2 fantasy football thoughts

For the third consecutive year, each week I'll be sharing random fantasy football thoughts and tidbits based off of the preseason games. I break it down in a variety of categories based on what I'm seeing on the field and how it is making me feel about their value in fantasy football this year. This series won the Best Fantasy Football Series last year by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association in 2010.

Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans

Arian Foster made the Saints' defense look silly

The second week of preseason play is in the books. If there is such a thing as watching too much football, I've done that in the last couple of days. I'm not complaining.

There were some interesting preseason games; some of the teams/players are looking pretty close to what we thought they were a few weeks ago. Others, however, are turning heads for the wrong reasons and some are just simply disappointing (Kansas City, I'm talking to you).

Drinking the Kool Aid

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford graced this space a week ago. He had another solid outing (without wide receiver Calvin Johnson playing due to a shoulder ailment), hitting six of 10 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown to receiver Nate Burleson (his second of the preseason). If Stafford can stay healthy, he is very capable of being a top-10 fantasy quarterback this year. Look for his low 100s ADP to start climbing. I'm also digging Burleson as a late-round option as a No. 5 receiver. Tap your mouse here for more »

NFL Draft: Rocking the Mock – Round 1

Your 2010 No. 1 selection...

The 2010 NFL Draft is just hours away and, as like every year, it has been a wild and crazy ride to get here. The first round kicks off Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by rounds two and three Friday and the remainder of the draft Saturday.

Will Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford be taken No. 1 overall or will the St. Louis Rams go another direction? Will Florida quarterback Tim Tebow be selected during the first or second day based on long-term potential?

It's time to rock the mock. Here is my 2010 NFL Draft first round mock. Be forewarned; as there are some picks that buck the common thought process, including the No. 1 pick:

A Daily Fantasy

No. 1 getting complicated?

Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford isn't going to have a contract in place with the St. Louis Rams before the NFL Draft according to reports. He isn't comfortable having a deal in place and wants to see what happens during the NFL Draft. The Rams are fine with it, as they know the numbers and feel confident Bradford would eventually sign his deal provided he is the pick. Tap your mouse here for more »

A Daily Fantasy

Get it together, Big BenMonday provided us with more talk on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger than I cared to listen to. He said his apologies to the Steelers' organization and fans, but there is no doubt his image has been horribly tarnished over this entire situation. Tap your mouse here for more »

A Daily Fantasy…

Katie CassidyI have always been addicted to horror movies.

Growing up, the likes of Friday the 13th, Halloween, and, of course, A Nightmare on Elm Street were my favorites. In recent years, the scariest things I've had to deal with are some of my fantasy football teams.

If you are a horror movie buff, you can understand my excitement for the upcoming remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street. The third trailer was just released. Sure it'll be tough seeing someone other than Robert Englund playing Freddy Krueger, but I'm sure I'll suffer through it. And Katie Cassidy's acting can't be as scary as watching the Cleveland Browns' quarterbacks play, right? Tap your mouse here for more »

A Daily Fantasy…

Stranded on an island...

I'm continuing my run through DVR shows, losing critical beauty sleep at night. On tap this week has been Lost, and I definitely will admit the show title easily sums up my feelings in regards to what is going on with it.

It's an enjoyable show, has some likeable characters (like the pictured Evangeline Lilly) and it is fun trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Unfortunately, part of me thinks when they try to wrap it all up at the end of the season everyone will be left feeling disappointed and, well, lost. Tap your mouse here for more »
