Fantasy Hockey: Pickup G Al Montoya

Al Montoya, New York IslandersFantasy hockey leagues are in the stretch run for the playoffs, and I'm a firm believer you can never have too many goalies withn upside. Consider picking up New York Islanders goalie Al Montoya, who is 3-1-1 this season. He is allowing 1.89 GAA per game, with a save percentage of .935. He also picked up one shut out. Sure, the Islanders aren't going to be confused with a good team any time soon, but they have some young talent and are putting the puck in the net. Montoya isn't guaranteed playing time long term, but if he keeps playing well he will be tough to keep off the ice for the goalie-hungry Isles. He is only owned in 12 percent of leagues at Yahoo!, too.

A Daily Fantasy

I need to move to Elm Street...

The NFL Draft is finally behind us. Before we know it, training camps and the 2010 fantasy football season will be here.  In the mean time, rookie minicamps, team minicamps and the closing out of the free-agent market remains.

For the most part, however, the next three months will be relatively quiet on the NFL front. That gives us all time to catch our breath a little bit, take in some summer blockbuster movies (starting with A Nightmare on Elm Street remake this weekend) and start preparing for the 2010 fantasy football season.

NFL Draft Day in review... KFFL.com's Cory J. Bonini broke down some winners and losers from the NFL Draft earlier this week. Check out his thoughts on the best - and worst - from the AFC as well as the best - and worst - from the NFC.

Leverage is gone

Leverage is gone...

For all extensive purposes, the NFL free-agent market is over. Thursday marked the final day NFL teams could give an offer sheet to restricted free agents, as teams would need the seven-day window before the NFL Draft in order to receive compensation had they not matched any offer sheets for their own players. A Daily Fantasy

The UFL - you know, that other football league - has revamped their website with a crisper, cleaner look.

Why should this matter to you?

Simple. The chance of a lock out in the NFL next year is growing, so who knows if we'll all be playing UFL fantasy football to get our fix. Hell, we may have to resort to drafting celebrities (I'll draft Eliza Dushku) in some funky new fantasy league to cure the itch. Anyway, check out the new UFL site ufl-football.com. Need a judge?

In between all of the earthquakes we have experienced lately in SoCal, the local media has been giving a lot of attention to the San Diego Chargers cheerleader auditions this weekend. Tap your mouse here for more »

A Daily Fantasy…

Rachel McAdamsSeeing the NFL has finally quieted down, I'm finally getting a caught up on all of the movies I missed out on.

Of the huge lot of flicks, I was reminded how much I need to stalk Rachel McAdams.

Two of the flicks included Sherlock Holmes and The Time Traveler's Wife, both staring McAdams, and both enjoyable movies. When I reiterated my love for her to the staff recently, I was quickly reminded by Bryce McRae, our resident Canuck, that Rachel is Canadian. Consider me hooked, eh. Tap your mouse here for more »

Red Wings vs. Penguins: Down to best of three

Zetterberg and company need to step up offensively

Zetterberg and company need to step up offensively

Shhh. Don't tell my better half or my dogs, but the NHL playoffs are my first love.

This year's playoffs have surely not disappointed, either. Overtimes, game sevens, heart breaking endings, odd goals, fights, goalies standing on their heads, wicked shots from the blue line and even players sucking up injuries while putting it all on the line for their team have been witnessed. Exciting NHL Playoffs: Give hockey a chance!

chris-osgood-391x213-20090323a

What a great time of the year it is.

The NFL Draft is over and Brett Favre is contemplating coming out of retirement (again). That is quite the shocker on the latter.

Baseball has six weeks almost in the books and some things - except my fantasy baseball team - are starting to make some sense.

The NBA playoffs are ongoing and quite exciting.

And then there's the NHL...

Surely you have heard of the hockey playoffs. You have, right? Right?? Tap your mouse here for more »
