NFL Preseason: Week 2 fantasy football thoughts

For the third consecutive year, each week I'll be sharing random fantasy football thoughts and tidbits based off of the preseason games. I break it down in a variety of categories based on what I'm seeing on the field and how it is making me feel about their value in fantasy football this year. This series won the Best Fantasy Football Series last year by the Fantasy Sports Writers Association in 2010.

Arian Foster, RB, Houston Texans

Arian Foster made the Saints' defense look silly

The second week of preseason play is in the books. If there is such a thing as watching too much football, I've done that in the last couple of days. I'm not complaining.

There were some interesting preseason games; some of the teams/players are looking pretty close to what we thought they were a few weeks ago. Others, however, are turning heads for the wrong reasons and some are just simply disappointing (Kansas City, I'm talking to you).

Drinking the Kool Aid

Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford graced this space a week ago. He had another solid outing (without wide receiver Calvin Johnson playing due to a shoulder ailment), hitting six of 10 passes for 85 yards and a touchdown to receiver Nate Burleson (his second of the preseason). If Stafford can stay healthy, he is very capable of being a top-10 fantasy quarterback this year. Look for his low 100s ADP to start climbing. I'm also digging Burleson as a late-round option as a No. 5 receiver. Tap your mouse here for more »

NFL Preseason: Week 2 thoughts

Wes Welker, WR, New England Patriots

Feeling better about Wes Welker's health

The second week of preseason action is, for the most part, in the books and a little thing called fantasy football is hotter than ever.

NFL starters saw more action  than they did in their first week of preseason play, but in most cases it was still less than a half. Next week is the one that counts, as most starting units will play into the third quarterback before hanging up the cleats until Week 1 of the regular season.

Fantasy football drafts: Late-round flier RBs

We creep closer and closer to the upcoming NFL season, and fantasy football drafts are consuming the nation. I just finished my fourth draft of the year yesterday, and have at least three more in the next 10 days.

Bernard Scott, RB, Cincinnati Bengals

Scott could be lightning in a bottle

The other day, I discussed how important it is to look for potential lightning in a bottle fantasy football draft selections toward the end of your draft instead of relying on safe, ho-hum picks. In that report, I focused on wide receivers you can target at the tail end of your fantasy football draft who have incredibly high upside if the stars align. Today, I want to throw some running backs at you. Tap your mouse here for more »

NFL Preseason: Week 1 thoughts

Ladies and gentlemen, it's fantasy football season!

Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers

Rodgers in midseason form

Preseason games are ongoing, Brett Favre is playing games with the media and the fun is just beginning.

Over the next month, as I did a year ago, I'll be sharing my thoughts on all of the NFL preseason action. It is important to remember the first two rounds of preseason play have starters seeing very limited playing time.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers was in midseason form, hitting 12-of-13 passes for 159 yards and a 25-yard touchdown to Greg Jennings. A-Rod is doing a good job cementing his place as our No. 1 fantasy football quarterback this year. Tap your mouse here for more »

Fantasy football draft gamble: Steve Slaton

Do you remember Steve Slaton?

Steve Slaton, RB, Houston Texans

Remember me?

To jog your memory, he is a talented running back for the Houston Texans.

Oh, you're starting to remember now? Really? Good, because it seems like everyone has forgotten about him in fantasy football drafts this year. Tap your mouse here for more »
