NFL Draft: Panthers shouldn’t take a quarterback

More problems than an Icon can fix
The NFL Draft begins Thursday and the Carolina Panthers sit with the first-overall selection. General manager Marty Hurney said recently the team has not received any offers for the No. 1 selection; barring a drastic turn of events, its safe to assume they will hang onto it.
Auburn quarterback Cam Newton has been the popular pick amongst draftniks around the web over the last few weeks and speculation grows by the minute the team will take Newton, but didn't the Panthers take a quarterback rather early in last year's NFL Draft?
Yes, they did. His name is Jimmy Clausen and he deserves another chance. Tap your mouse here for more »

I need to move to Elm Street...
The NFL Draft is finally behind us. Before we know it, training camps and the 2010 fantasy football season will be here. In the mean time, rookie minicamps, team minicamps and the closing out of the free-agent market remains.
For the most part, however, the next three months will be relatively quiet on the NFL front. That gives us all time to catch our breath a little bit, take in some summer blockbuster movies (starting with A Nightmare on Elm Street remake this weekend) and start preparing for the 2010 fantasy football season.

Feels like Christmas...
Today feels a little bit like Christmas; minus the fact that Lindsay Lohan won't be under my tree.
By the time this weekend is complete, each NFL team will have new presents on offense, defense and special teams that hopefully improve their squad from a year ago.

NFL Draft: Rocking the Mock – Round 1

Your 2010 No. 1 selection...
The 2010 NFL Draft is just hours away and, as like every year, it has been a wild and crazy ride to get here. The first round kicks off Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET, followed by rounds two and three Friday and the remainder of the draft Saturday.
Will Oklahoma quarterback Sam Bradford be taken No. 1 overall or will the St. Louis Rams go another direction? Will Florida quarterback Tim Tebow be selected during the first or second day based on long-term potential?
It's time to rock the mock. Here is my 2010 NFL Draft first round mock. Be forewarned; as there are some picks that buck the common thought process, including the No. 1 pick:

For as much as I love technology and am addicted to many toys tied directly to it, sometimes it just makes you want to return to the stone age.
Our buddy, Murphy's Law, stopped by late Tuesday and again Wednesday morning to remind us we're still on bad terms, as he decided to put one of our hard drives on life support. Why can't he ask Kate Beckinsale to stop by instead?

Monday provided us with more talk on Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger than I cared to listen to. He said his apologies to the Steelers' organization and fans, but there is no doubt his image has been horribly tarnished over this entire situation. Tap your mouse here for more »
