Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim acquire Dan Haren from Arizona Diamondbacks

Fantasy Baseball Alert

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim have acquired starting pitcher Dan Haren from the Arizona Diamondbacks for pitchers Joe Saunders, Patrick Corbin and Rafael Rodriguez as well as a player to be named later, report USAToday.com's Mike Dodd and Gabe Lacques.

Haren (7-8, 4.60 ERA, 1.35 WHIP) has been a thorough disappointment this fantasy baseball season, but he's still considered one of the top arms in baseball. He figured to be one of hardest commodities to obtain on the trade market, but at first glance, that doesn't appear to be the case.

Colorado Rockies set to take wrong turn down Huston Street?

nicholas-minnix-fing-nick-good

The Denver Post's Troy E. Renck is reporting that the Rockies are expected to anoint Huston Street the closer tomorrow - or today, if you aren't on the Left Coast.

If it's true, the news immediately solidifies Street's fantasy value as a high-end No. 3 or low-end No. 2 stopper. We've seen "expected" news before, though, so don't take it as gospel until the words dribble from Clint Hurdle's mouth. Tap your mouse here for more »

Fantasy Baseball Alert: Cole Hamels a "long shot" for Opening Day

Is there trouble brewing for SP Cole Hamels?

Who wants a lump of Cole Hamels on draft day?

Philadelphia Phillies pitching coach Rich Dubee called Opening Day a long shot for ace Cole Hamels.

The club will proceed with extreme caution; they want him for the majority of the season, so making sure that last year's World Series MVP can take the hill for the first night of the Phightins' title defense is not a priority.

He received an anti-inflammatory shot after his exam in the City of Brotherly Love on Tuesday. The injection hasn't taken effect yet, but the plan for him is to play long toss tomorrow. Dubeee guessed that the southpaw might be able to make a Grapefruit League outing at the beginning of next week. Tap your mouse here for more »
