Wild Card Weekend predictions

It is the season of NFL playoff brackets, and I have released mine on KFFL.com. You can also find the brackets for fellow KFFL editors and a group bracket.

I struggled with a few selections for this weekend's games, but I ultimately decided on my playoff predictions despite much angst. Tap your mouse here for more »

Early-season fantasy football draft review

I recently participated in a 12-team, 20-round non-maintenance draft hosted by MyFantasyLeague.com. I held the fourth overall pick. Tap your mouse here for more »

NFL Draft Grapevine: Top five picks

The top five picks of this year's NFL Draft are tougher to predict than any year in recent memory. The only team I have confidence in mocking a pick for is the Arizona Cardinals.

The owners of the first overall pick can go in more possible directions than imaginable. In addition, no one player has emerged as the consensus No. 1 pick. Tap your mouse here for more »

Carson Palmer: What’s next?

According to published reports, head coach Marvin Lewis says Carson Palmer won't be a Cincinnati Bengal in 2011.

Should we be surprised? (Should we care?) Palmer reportedly says he is sitting on a mountain of cash and doesn't need Cincy's money. I believe he doesn't, but that kind of loot is tough to say no to. Tap your mouse here for more »

Cam Newton’s Pro Day reignites the hype

Auburn quarterback Cam Newton reportedly threw well at his Pro Day and will certainly be the focus of the pre-draft hype machine, for better or worse. He completed 42 of his 53 throws to route-running receivers. Some of the misses were drops, others were overthrows by Newton.

He is somewhere in between the showing at the Scouting Combine and what he displayed today. Don't get overly excited about his performance. I still believe he won't escape the Cincinnati Bengals at No. 4, and lately I'm of the mindset that Newton going No. 1 is very realistic. Feb. 24 I wrote about this possibility.

Newton's accuracy is best seen on tape, in pads, against live competition.

Head-to-head rant, Carson Palmer and an 18-game sked

I hope my readers enjoyed more success in Week 3 than I did. It was a rough weekend in most of my leagues. I learned from my lineup mistakes, and a few were unavoidable ... sometimes the matchups don't play out as expected, which is just part of the game.

On a tangent: I am sick of head-to-head leagues. Total points formats showcase the talents of owners far more than H2H setups do, because you have removed the potential for a lucky win or a fluky loss. The cumulative standings in total points leagues are reflective of savvy owners making the right lineup choices, just as much as they are of the opposite. Sure, luck has a factor in fantasy football - no question about it - but I hate to give it a helping hand. Tap your mouse here for more »

Terrell Owens, Ben Roethlisberger, Dez Bryant and more

Terrell Owens took the focus off Brett Favre for one day, but now that TO has signed with the Cincinnati Bengals, how should fantasy owners value him? Tap your mouse here for more »

NFL Draft Grapevine: AFC winners and losers

Now that we've had a few days to digest the offerings of the 2010 NFL Draft, it is time for our annual draft winners and losers piece. In what is always a controversial analysis, everyone has fun grading the draft or tearing apart the next guy's evaluation. Truth be told, it's unfair to grade anything before a few seasons of football have been played, but who has time for that? Tap your mouse here for more »

What's next for one of the NFL's all-time greats?

OK, I'll be the first to admit my man-love for LaDainian Tomlinson entering the 2009 fantasy football season bit me in the tail in a lot of leagues. There were many justifiable reasons to like LT as a buy-low draft pick last summer, but he was also a risky choice.

Heading into the 2010 fantasy fray, Tomlinson's future is cloudy, and his dominance is a thing of the past. Regardless of where he ends up, it's no secret that LT's best play is behind him, and his fantasy value is going to be at the lowest of his illustrious career. Tap your mouse here for more »

Wild Card Weekend is fast approaching!

cory-j-bonini-misanthropic-musing

It's playoff time, and the air is full of chatter about whose team is better than the next. I'm not particularly convicted to one team winning it all, as I can see several scenarios playing out. For now, I'll focus on this weekend's slate of games. Tap your mouse here for more »
