Fantasy Football Paleontology: Unearthing Tarvarisaurus Rex

Why all the hate for Tarvaris Jackson? We've seen the bad, and a little bit of good, but he is an enigma at this point. Are we just afraid of the unknown?

I'm not saying you should draft T-Jax as your No. 1, but there is no reason why he can't back up a Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees on your roster. Is he really any worse than Kyle Orton, Mark Sanchez, Donovan McNabb, Ryan Fitzpatrick or Kevin Kolb? Tap your mouse here for more »

I just can’t help myself

I know you are tired of hearing about him, and I have a nearly exhausted my tolerance for writing about him, but Brett Favre may not be as done as people think.

The 41-year-old "retired" legend says his arm feels as good as ever, but he doesn't want to keep putting his body through the beatings it takes to play quarterback in the NFL. It's hard to fault him, and I want to believe he is being genuine, but the streak is over, so the pressure is off. Tap your mouse here for more »

NFL’s unbreakable records: Your take

I am currently working on a magazine piece that will cover the NFL's all-time unbreakable records, both good and bad. There are a few that I'm on the fence about, and I am looking for your help. Approach this as though the NFL will not get their way and implement an 18-game schedule. Tap your mouse here for more »

2010 Projections Review – QBs: Where we went wrong

I firmly believe one of the foundations of developing accurate fantasy football projections is to understand where you went wrong the previous year. Recognizing mistakes and learning from them is the primary goal when reviewing; anyone can have dumb luck and come close a few times, but true, long-term success is measured by consistent production.

We projected roughly 700 players last year, so I'll chip away at the positions over the coming weeks to show you where we went wrong, what we did well, and how we will go about avoiding the same mistakes in 2011. Tap your mouse here for more »

For the record, Tarvaris Jackson isn’t the answer

The big news of Week 14 was Brett Favre (shoulder, ankle, hand, you name it) missing his first game since Sept. 27, 1992. For the better part of the season, pundits have called for Tarvaris Jackson to replace the veteran gunslinger so the Minnesota Vikings could assess if T-Jax was their quarterback of the future.

That suggestion always made me laugh. Tap your mouse here for more »

A rolling stone gathers no Randy Moss

After reading comments around the Internet, it's pretty clear there is a division among Minnesota Vikings fans when it comes to Randy Moss' release. Most vocal, though, were those against the move. Yet, people in favor of the enigmatic wideout's release chiefly said the same thing, it seemed: Bringing in Moss was a poor idea in the first place. Tap your mouse here for more »

Brett Favre vs. Brad Childress: A war of attrition?

Does Brad Childress actually have the cojones to bench Brett Favre (ankle, foot), when it appears as though Favre will be able to start and give the Minnesota Vikings a legitimate - if not the best - chance to win?

Favre practiced Friday for the first time all week during the media portion but wasn't really testing his ankle, by most accounts. Childress said he wants Favre to demonstrate that he has the necessary mobility. Tap your mouse here for more »

Shawne Merriman, Jermichael Finley, an RB swap and more

I'm sick ... and not in the new-age cool connotation. Coughing, choking, sniffling, runny nose, headache, congestion. Fun stuff. You outta try it sometime.

Through all of the tissues, Dayquil, Chloraseptic's green death flavor and finally somewhat muted misery, I've had to concentrate on a wild week in the NFL, and it's only Wednesday. TO and Chad have a show together, which is easily better than either of their individual programs. Jerry Jones continues to give Wade Phillips a lukewarm vote of confidence, the San Diego Chargers are still cycling through long snappers like Hugh Hefner is 20-somethings, and the Brett Favre scandal speculation is going strong. Randy Moss deal paves way for Vincent Jackson to Pats

Vincent Jackson will be a New England Patriot sooner rather than later.

The only question is whether San Diego Chargers general manager A.J. Smith will lower his lofty trade demands for V-Jax. If so, I think New England will not have a problem trading 2011 second- and fourth-round picks for him. Tap your mouse here for more »
