2011 NFL Draft: Best remaining prospects
![]() |
Round 1 came to a close last night with several marquee names still on the board. We had an epic run on quarterbacks in the first stanza, but several legitimate players remain at the position.
The nation's leader in sacks from 2010 remains up for grabs. The defensive line has several notable players left on the board, but expect the wide receiver position to command the most attention in the second round. As you'll see below, many remaining players have character flaws and questions about their off-the-field excursions. How much more will they have to wait to hear their names called? Last-minute mock draft: One round of fun
I couldn't help myself with just a few hours remaining before the Carolina Panthers make a potentially franchise-changing selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, so here is an alternative, last-second Round 1 mock draft. I'll say that I wasn't too happy slating some of the picks, but NFL teams tend to do strange things during the draft. I'm starting to buy into the notion of several quarterbacks going in the first round, and there will be a few surprises along the way. Tap your mouse here for more »
A pair of potential first-rounders tested hot for the pot
Iowa defensive end Christian Ballard and Georgia defensive end/outside linebacker Justin Houston failed drug tests at the NFL Scouting Combine, according to Jay Glazer and Alex Marvez, of FOX Sports. Both players reportedly tested positive for marijuana. Tap your mouse here for more »
Brandon Marshall: An epic display of loyalty?
Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall was recently allegedly stabbed in the abdomen by his wife (I guess the honeymoon period has come to an end), and she was charged with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The NFL’s Week 1 scheduling conundrum
NFL franchises play the same non-conference division every four seasons, and this year the NFC East will do battle with its AFC counterpart. Madden 12 cover: Peyton Hillis or Michael Vick
Seeing Michael Vick versus Peyton Hillis (really???) as the finalists for the cover of Madden 12 makes me laugh. It goes to show how little respect Aaron Rodgers gets on a national level, but it is also an indictment of Vick. Tap your mouse here for more »
NFL Draft Grapevine: Addressing rumors
As we get ever so close to kicking off the 2011 NFL Draft, last-minute reports surface that can seriously impact a draft prospect's stock. Let's face it ... fiction spreads faster than truth.
Recently published reports suggested Texas Christian University offensive guard/tackle Marcus Cannon has testicular cancer. The report went as far as saying Cannon didn't even know about the diagnosis because his agent was withholding it from him. That's some heavy stuff. Tap your mouse here for more »
