First, if you haven't already, head to your free-agent list and grab Joel Hanrahan - he's the first option to replace departed Jon Rauch as closer for the Washington Nationals.

KFFL expert draft review

It was another late night of work in San Diego as I was the lead on the draft for my first trip as a KFFL football league manager. Omar Medina, of Latin Fantasy Football, hosted the pick 'em for the Iron Man Expert League, which KFFL has entered for the first time. It's a combinational scoring system that does not record points for receptions (non-PPR).

Mockumentary 5.0

Continuing to catch up on the mocks I've been participating in. This mock will appear in an upcoming issue of USA Today's Sports Weekly, so keep an eye out for that tome. And here's hoping I haven't burned up all my karma during the mock portion of the program, as this is my third consecutive draft [...]

Players in the news: Del Pilar's take

QB | Chad Pennington | New York Jets | Fantasy
Eric Allen, of NewYorkJets.com, reports New York Jets head coach Eric Mangini said he will try to give QBs Kellen Clemens and Chad Pennington close to the same amount of repetitions in practices. Game rotation will be decided at a later date. Mangini added, "My approach is when I name a starter, that guy will be the starter. It's not so rigid that there's not a chance to evaluate things as we go, but my approach is that when I name a starter, he'll be the starter."

Favre making more enemies than friends

I wasn't going to do it. Seriously, I wasn't. I promised myself no matter how chaotic or drama-infested this whole deal surrounding quarterback Brett Favre became, I wasn't going to get into it beyond a fantasy football approach.

Chew on this…

Ah, it’s about that time. That’s right, fantasy drafts are actually kicking off. One of mine officially starts on the 21st, but the commissioner opened the draft up on MFL (Not using it? You should be.). First three picks: LT, AP, S-Jax; not surprising. I have the 7th [...]

That’s why I love Fantasy Football

Heading towards training camp and then the regular season, this is the time when fantasy football begins to get fun again for the year. The reason why can be best captured by just listing a few names: Kevin Jones, Shaun Alexander, Travis Henry and Cedric Benson. Those are four of the free agents in the NFL who [...]

Creative Sports Expert Mock

With the National Football League set to start its season in little less than four months, KFFL is already in full swing when it comes to being prepared for draft day. Fellow managing editor Nicholas Minnix and I took place in our first, and the company's second, mock draft of the preseason.

The league format was set up to hold a roster of 15 players. It starts one quarterback, two running backs, three wide receivers, one flex, one tight end, one place kicker and one team defense. There are several important scoring aspects to the league. The most important is that it is a point-per-reception (PPR) league, with each player receiving one point for each reception. Passing touchdowns only garner four points, while the defense stands to rack up a lot of points if it can create a safety (five points), turnover (three points) or hold a team scoreless (10 points).

The Times They Are A-Changin'

Sunday's Sprint Cup race at Bristol Motor Speedway will hold some special significance for me. One of the "great ones", Dale Jarrett, will climb into a stock car for the last time. For some of the sports newer fans it may be a bothersome spectacle, a distraction from the race, but for me it will be a sad day. Jarrett is not one of my favorite drivers, but he is one of my heroes. He is an alumnus of the massive popularity explosion NASCAR enjoyed in the late 1980's and that continues to this day. The list of names Jarrett competed and won against includes such greats as Dale Earnhardt Sr., Davey Allison, Alan Kulwicki, Rusty Wallace, Harry Gant, Ernie Irvan and Geoffrey Bodine.

Let it Bo, Let it Bo, Let it Bo

While visiting my future in-laws over the past week we got to talking about past Christmas memories, and one of my favorites involved waiting for Christmas morning as a boy back in 1991 when I was fairly certain I would be receiving Tecmo Super Bowl for the Nintendo Entertainment System, which I did. It was this warm and fuzzy memory that caused me to stumble across an announcement that I had completely missed earlier in the year ... that Tecmo Bowl was coming back in 2008!

Fishing for the Big Tuna

The Big Tuna is now swimming off the coast of Florida. Great, wonderful, good for the Fins - We all know if anyone needs help it's that team. After narrowly escaping the ignominy of being the most defeated team in history, they still have a long uphill climb back to respectability. Does Duane Charles Parcells - Bill to everyone else - give them that chance? The powers that be in Miami seem to think so. I'm not so sure.

Many of you may have noticed KFFL has begun producing offseason baseball content months earlier than ever before. It's an exciting time for KFFL's baseball coverage, and to say that we've gotten better each year would be an understatement. The same is true for this season.

Things took an unexpected turn for the worst this past weekend however, when I dropped my first contest of the season in ugly fashion.
