You knew that he'd be back, right?
Jeremy Maclin ... a resounding buy for me. That mystery illness he had before last season sapped a lot of his physicality and cut down his already abbreviated camp. A sprained AC joint in his shoulder combined with a bum hammy didn't help his second half.
In his first eight games, he compiled 44 snares and 606 yards, looking at least five passes into his paws in five of them. In Maclin's last five games of the year, he only had 19 receptions for 253 yards - he missed Weeks 11 through 13 due to the aforementioned dings and took two games to get back on track.
Michael Vick made an effort in the final four regular-season contests to remain in the pocket. No coincidence that in that stretch, Maclin's numbers escalated as he returned to the field; he caught 13 passes for 187 yards and a score over Weeks 16 and 17.
Now, Maclin has added muscle and will have plenty of time to get back into shape. 80 receptions in a full season? Hardly a stretch for the PPR WR2, especially if his QB will look to dump the ball off in midrange routes more often. Philly should bounce back in a big fashion, and the fourth-year wideout should play a big part as he comes back to rock the show.
Return of the Mac, indeed....
