Welcome to KFFL.com's Injury Roundup. Each week, we keep you up to speed on all the latest injury news from around the NFL. Whether it's a minor injury or a season-altering catastrophe, we're on top of it. Which players may be sitting out of this weekend's key games? Which ones are ready to step back between the white lines?

QUARTERBACKS

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Byron Leftwich (ankle) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and will likely start in Week 9. He is listed as probable. If he can't play, backup quarterback David Garrard would start again in Leftwich's place.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Trent Green (concussion) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, but will not play in Week 9. Quarterback Damon Huard will again start in his place. Green is expected to return no earlier that mid-November.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Daunte Culpepper (knee) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and probably will not play in Week 9. He is listed as doubtful. Quarterback Joey Harrington is again expected to start in Culpepper's place.

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (shoulder) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and will start in Week 9. He is listed as probable.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Aaron Brooks (pectoral) is listed as doubtful for Week 9 and is not expected to start. Quarterback Andrew Walter will likely start again in Brooks' absence.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (knee) is out for Week 9, and will probably miss Week 10. Quarterback Seneca Wallace will start in Hasselbeck's place this week.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Chris Simms (spleen) is out for Week 9 and indefinitely. The team is likely to activate quarterback Luke McCown (knee) from the Physically-Unable-to-Perform list this week. If that happens, the team is expected to place Simms on Injured Reserve. Rookie quarterback Bruce Gradkowski will start in Week 9.

Washington Redskins quarterback Mark Brunell (ribs) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is probable for Week 9. If he can't play, quarterback Todd Collins would likely start in Brunell's place because the team will not have prepared rookie passer Jason Campbell to start.

RUNNING BACKS

Denver Broncos running back Tatum Bell (toe) is probable for Week 9, but his turf toe will probably limit his cutback ability and he will be at less than 100 percent. He expects to be healthy enough to play, but how much that will be is uncertain. Running back Mike Bell should get plenty of work, and he may even start.

The Green Bay Packers rested running back Ahman Green (knee) Wednesday, Nov. 1, but he is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as probable. If he is unable to play, running back Noah Herron would get the nod at running back with running back Vernand Morency (back) unavailable.

Indianapolis Colts running back Joseph Addai (wrist) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, but is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as questionable. If he cannot play, running back Dominic Rhodes would get a larger share of the work.

Indianapolis Colts running back Dominic Rhodes (back) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is expected to play in Week 9. If he cannot play and Addai isn't available, the team would have to use running back Ran Carthon or DeDe Dorsey in an expanded role.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Fred Taylor (thigh) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, but is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as probable. If he can't play, running back Maurice Jones-Drew would see a larger share of the work. The team might also need to activate running back LaBrandon Toefield.

Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew (thigh) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, but is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as probable. If he can't play, Taylor would likely see a larger workload and the team might need to activate running back LaBrandon Toefield.

New Orleans Saints running back Reggie Bush (ankle) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as questionable. If he can't play, starting back Deuce McAllister would get more touches, and running back Aaron Stecker might see action.

Oakland Raiders tailback LaMont Jordan (back) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is questionable for Week 9. If he can't play, running back Justin Fargas (shoulder) would likely start and head a committee at halfback.

Oakland Raiders running back Justin Fargas (shoulder) did not practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, but is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as probable. If he can't play, the team will probably turn to a committee involving fullback Zack Crockett and running back ReShard Lee. This is pending the status of running back LaMont Jordan (back).

Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander (foot) is out for Week 9. It's uncertain whether or not he'll be ready for Week 10, but the team is hopeful. Running back Maurice Morris will start again in Alexander's place.

Washington Redskins running back Clinton Portis (ankle) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is probable for Week 9. If he can't play, running back Ladell Betts would start in Portis' place.

The Rest of the Field...

Green Bay Packers running back Vernand Morency (back) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is expected to miss several weeks with what appears to be an injury to a disk in his back. The injury is not expected to end his season... Kansas City Chiefs running back Priest Holmes (head, neck) is scheduled to visit a neurosurgeon in Miami at the end of this week. After the doctor's visit, the team will announce Holmes' playing status... The New York Jets placed running back Curtis Martin (knee) on the Reserve/Physically-Unable-to-Perform list Wednesday, Nov. 1. Martin announced that he will not play this season, but he has yet to say whether or not he'll retire.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings (ankle) did not take part in team drills Wednesday, Nov. 1, but he did participate in a jog-through, individual drills and group drills. If he doesn't experience any swelling in his ankle, he may try to practice Thursday, Nov. 2. If Jennings can't play this weekend, wideout Ruvell Martin would start.

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones (groin) practiced Wednesday, Oct. 25, and could play in Week 8. He is listed as questionable. Wide receiver Ernest Wilford would replace him in the starting lineup if Jones couldn't play.

New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Horn (groin) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, but is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as questionable. If he can't play, wideout Terrence Copper would probably get Horn's snaps.

New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress (back) did not participate in the team portion of practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, because of back spasms but is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as probable. If he couldn't play, wideouts Tim Carter may start in Burress' place.

Washington Redskins wide receiver Santana Moss (hamstring) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is questionable for Week 9. If he can't play, wideout Antwaan Randle El (heel) would get more time with the first team and wideout Brandon Lloyd would become the team's No. 1 receiver.

The Rest of the Field...

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Brandon Stokley (ankle) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and isn't expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as questionable on the team's injury report. If he can't play, wideout Aaron Moorehead (back), who is also questionable but expected to play, would take Stokley's spot... Minnesota Vikings wideout Marcus Robinson (back) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9. If he can't play, wide receivers Billy McMullen and Bethel Johnson could both see action... New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Jackson (hamstring) missed portions of practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9. If he cannot play, wide receiver Troy Brown would likely be on the field more... New York Giants wide receiver Amani Toomer (ankle) missed the team portion of practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, but is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as probable. If he can't play, wide receiver Tim Carter may start in his place... Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Santanio Holmes (toe) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is listed as probable for Week 9. If he can't play, wideout Sean Morey may see time with the offense... Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Bobby Engram (illness) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9. If he can't play, wideout D.J. Hackett would see more time.

TIGHT ENDS

Cleveland Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. (knee) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as questionable. The team will monitor his surgically repaired knee for the remainder of the season. If he couldn't play, tight end Steve Heiden would replace him.

The Rest of the Field...

Denver Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler (hip) is probable for Week 9. If he can't play, tight end Stephen Alexander could be used as a receiver, or the team may need to activate tight end Nate Jackson... New England Patriots tight end Daniel Graham (ankle) missed portions of practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is listed as questionable for Week 9. Tight end David Thomas (hand) would see more time if Graham cannot play... San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis (leg) missed practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is listed as doubtful for Week 9. An X-ray taken of his leg last week showed that the fracture is nearly 100 percent healed. Tight end Eric Johnson will continue to serve as the team's No. 1 tight end while Davis is unavailable.

PLACE KICKERS

Indianapolis Colts place kicker Adam Vinatieri (groin) practiced Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is expected to play in Week 9. He is listed as questionable. If he can't play, the team will have to sign a free agent kicker.
