Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 4 to Week 7, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Wide receivers

Kenny Britt, Tennessee Titans at San Diego Chargers

Fantasy value: No. 2 or No. 3

  • Tennessee's second-year wideout exploded for 225 yards and three touchdowns last week despite getting into a bar fight a few nights before the game. Britt is averaging 4.00 receptions for 91.8 receiving yards and 1.50 touchdowns per game.
  • The Chargers are giving up 8.25 receptions, 94.3 receiving yards and 0.25 receiving touchdowns to this position per game. Each of those stats is in the top 10 for fewest yielded to this position.
  • San Diego probably will be a bit more in tune to Britt, as the Philadelphia Eagles might not have been expecting much from Britt.

Mike Wallace, Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints

Mike Wallace, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers
Risky playmaker

Fantasy value: No. 2 or No. 3

  • Wallace's value has been helped by his touchdown catches. He has only seven receptions for 167 yards over the last four weeks (three games), but he has two touchdown receptions in that time. He's averaging just 5.33 targets per game in that time.
  • New Orleans is giving up just 8.00 receptions for 84.0 receiving yards and 0.25 receiving touchdowns per game. Each of those averages is among the top five fewest for wideouts in the league. They've given up the fewest fantasy points per game (8.5), in standard scoring leagues, per game.
  • Wallace's specialty is the deep ball; the Saints have given up just 15 passes of 20-plus yards this year, which is the sixth fewest in the league.

NEW - Danny Amendola, St. Louis Rams vs. Carolina Panthers

Fantasy value: High-end No. 3

  • Amendola had a 20-target Week 5 and before then wasn't targeted fewer than seven times in a game. Though his 11 combined targets in his last two games are respectable, he has combined for just six receptions, 48 yards and one touchdown in that time. His big Week 5 outing skewed his fantasy impact.
  • The Panthers have allowed just 9.00 catches, 77.0 yards and 0.33 touchdown snares per game to opposing wideouts. They were lucky in facing David Carr for much of their game with the San Francisco 49ers last week, but Carolina also faced the passing games of the New Orleans Saints and Chicago Bears, two better attacks, in the last month.
