Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 5 to Week 8, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football busts: Running backs

Cadillac Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Green Bay Packers

Fantasy value: No. 2 or flex

Cadillac Williams, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Caddy might not run smoothly this week
  • Williams has been very inconsistent this season. Caddy's 3.1 yards-per-carry average in his last three games isn't encouraging. Against the New England Patriots in Week 7, Williams evenly shared carries with Derrick Ward, which could lead to more of the same going forward.
  • Rookie quarterback Josh Freeman will make his first pro start this week. This means the Packers and their strong secondary are not likely to fear the passing game, so look for a lot of eight-man fronts against Cadillac.
  • The Packers have given up 112.3 offensive yards (80.3 rushing) per game and only one total touchdown over the four weeks (three games). They did a good job at holding the Minnesota Vikings' Adrian Peterson in check last week (25-97-1).

NEW - Ahmad Bradshaw, New York Giants vs. San Diego Chargers

Fantasy value: No. 2 or flex

  • Bradshaw (ankle, foot) is expected to return to practice Friday, Nov. 6, for the first time this week and should play in Week 9. He has been playing with a cracked bone in his foot that shouldn't keep him out unless it worsens.
  • He carried the ball just nine times last week, tying a season low, and setting a season low with 21 yards. However, he found the end zone and has done so four times in his last four games.
  • San Diego has allowed just 91.0 rushing yards and 0.33 rushing scores per game to this position. Sure, they've been helped with matchups against the Oakland Raiders and Kansas City Chiefs, but they also shut down the Denver Broncos' Correll Buckhalter (46 yards, 4.6 per carry) and Knowshon Moreno (44 yards, 2.4 per carry). San Diego's patchwork defensive tackle rotation is improving, and defensive end Jacques Cesaire has been creeping closer to full health.
Felix Jones, Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

Fantasy value: Flex or bench

  • Jones is entrenched in a very limited role, regardless of how well he plays. The coaching staff remains committed to Marion Barber III as the primary ball carrier, and Jones isn't very adept at catching out of the backfield. He comes off on third downs for Tashard Choice most of the time. Unless the former Arkansas Razorback can score on a long run, yours truly has a better chance at finding the end zone in the NFL.
  • It doesn't help Jones' cause this week that Philly is playing tough against the position lately. Ranking in the top 10 in rushing yards (78.8) and offensive yards (109.8) allowed is impressive, but the Iggles have permitted backs to cross the big white stripe just one total time in the past month.
