Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 10 to Week 13, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Running backs

BenJarvus Green-Ellis, New England Patriots at Chicago Bears

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 2

  • Law Firm has found plenty of use as New England's main back over the last month. He is averaging 17.3 rushes for 78.5 yards and 1.25 rushing scores per game. He is averaging 4.6 yards per carry.
  • Chicago is giving up just 61.3 rushing yards per game to this position, which is the lowest average in the league in the last month. They're allowing only 4.1 yards per carry to opposing backs.
  • BJGE hasn't done much damage through the air, though, and that might be the best way to attack Chicago's defense, at least as far as the running backs go. The Bears are giving up 5.50 receptions for 44.5 receiving yards per game. Danny Woodhead might see more time on the field this week, especially if Green-Ellis, whose value mostly comes from TDs, can't get going.

Brandon Jacobs, New York Giants at Minnesota Vikings

New England Patriots RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis
Law Firm out of order

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Since taking over the starting role for New York's last two games, Jacobs has run for 190 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. He has averaged 8.6 yards per carry.
  • Minnesota is yielding just 65.0 yards on the ground to this position and a league-low 3.1 yards per carry. They also haven't given up a rushing score in the last month.
  • This year, the Vikes have given up 5.50 receptions per game, which is tied for eighth most in the league. The Giants don't typically use Jacobs as a receiver, so despite Jacobs' starting status, Ahmad Bradshaw might see more work of the two.

NEW - Jahvid Best, Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers

Fantasy value: No. 3 or flex

  • Best (toe), who returned to practice Thursday, was utilized 10 times in Week 13 but played only 15 snaps. Most of his yardage came off a 45-yard scamper and a 32-yard reception. He earns most of his points off catches, and his apparently limited workload makes him a less steady fantasy play than Maurice Morris ... relatively.
  • Despite allowing 4.33 receptions to running backs per game, the Pack has only allowed them to earn 126.3 offensive yards and have limited them to just 0.33 total scores.
