In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 10 to Week 13, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Defensive teams

Minnesota Vikings vs. New York Giants

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • The Vikes have regained some of their pass rush in the last few weeks, averaging 2.50 sacks to go along with 1.00 interceptions and 1.00 fumble recoveries per game. Those averages were produced by the Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Washington Redskins and Buffalo Bills.
  • The Giants? Not as susceptible to giving defenses fantasy points. Eli Manning hasn't been sacked in the last four weeks despite throwing 1.50 interceptions and New York losing 0.75 fumbles per game. The Giants are typically careful with the football.

Baltimore Ravens at Houston Texans

Ray Lewis, LB, Baltimore Ravens
Houston' O has protected the ball

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • The Ravens have some of their defensive electricity back: 2.00 sacks and 0.75 interceptions per game. They can thank safety Ed Reed settling in along with matchups against the Carolina Panthers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Pittsburgh Steelers mixed in with the usually disciplined Atlanta Falcons.
  • The Texans have penetrated some solid defenses - New York Jets in Week 11 and Philadelphia Eagles in Week 13 - on their way to giving up just 1.25 sacks, 0.25 interceptions and 0.75 lost fumbles per game. Baltimore hasn't been hurt by the awful or mediocre passing games they've faced, but Houston is capable of picking the Ravens' secondary apart, even if it's in a catch-up phase.
