Fantasy football sleepers: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins at St. Louis Rams

Fantasy value: No. 1 or No. 2

• Nose for the end zone

  Through two weeks, Portis hasn't been great (31 carries, 96 yards, two scores), but part of that can be chalked up to the offensive line. They haven't created many holes for him.
• Also, the Dallas Cowboys and the Houston Texans, his first two opponents, both have stout run defenses.
• Over the first two weeks, St. Louis has given up 128.5 rushing yards per game (tied for third most) to opposing backs. Last year, they were the sixth most generous group to opposing backs (122.2 rushing yards per game).
• The 'Skins have talked of having a more balanced offense, especially after they generated a net of 17 yards on the ground last week. Part of that came from changing play calls at the line. They probably won't feel the need to this week against one of the worst run defenses in the league.

Correll Buckhalter, Denver Broncos vs. Indianapolis Colts

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

• Buck has averaged only 2.0 yards per carry through the first two weeks, but he has scored once. His totals: 34 yards on 17 carries.
• Indy is giving up 6.0 yards per carry (second most in the league) and 186 rushing yards per game (most) to this position. Of course, a lot of that stems from Houston Texans running back Arian Foster's big Week 1, but they still gave up 112 yards to the New York Giants' runners last week.
• Already without Bob Sanders (biceps), the Colts lost Clint Session to a hamstring injury last week. If he doesn't play, it's tough to see seventh-round pick rookie Kavell Conner filling in with another strong game.
• Keeping Colts quarterback Peyton Manning off the field is still the best way to beat Indy. Expect Denver to feature heavily their rushing attack this week, provided they aren't down early.
