Fantasy football sleepers: PK - Week 12

by Tim Heaney on November 23, 2010 @ 18:45:00 PDT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 8 to Week 11, unless otherwise stated.

Fantasy football sleepers: Place kickers

Phil Dawson, Cleveland Browns vs. Carolina Panthers

Phil Dawson, PK, Cleveland Browns
Dawson's Week?

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 1

  • The vet has gone 9-for-11 on field goals and converted 11 extra points in his last four games. He has attempted at least two field goals in each of those contests, too.
  • His schedule looks like a fantasy player's dream, starting with this week against Carolina. The Panthers have yielded 2.25 field goal tries and 3.50 one-pointers per contest.
  • Dawson is worth acquiring - the Browns' offense is just good enough to move the ball, but not necessarily good enough to avoid giving Dawson consistent field goal tries.

Nick Folk, New York Jets vs. Cincinnati Bengals

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 1

  • Folk has missed four of his nine field goal attempts in the last two weeks but has been generally effective for the Jets this year. Most of those gaffes came on shoddy field conditions and from long distances.
  • The hapless Bengals should allow him more chances to score. Opponents have clawed out 3.00 field goal attempts and 3.25 PATs per outing against Cincy.
