Catchers
Not a stable batting average producer, Buck is a near lock for double-digit homers and is hitting .412-3-6 on a five-game hit streak. He had peaks and valleys during fantasy relevance last season as well. Two-catcher leaguers should ride his power but beware that his shaky batting eye could push his performance off a cliff soon. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Watch AL-only: Acquire Corner infieldersJuan Miranda, 1B, New York Yankees The Yanks called up the 27-year-old as lefty bench depth; he might start Tuesday's game. Miranda combined for 31 homers in his last two seasons at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and went .260-5-15 in 96 at-bats there this year before his call-up. The Quad-A commodity might see frequent at-bats as DH if he shows something, but even with Nick Johnson (wrist) on the DL, New York has numerous ways to handle the DH spot, including using one of their vets there. Still, offensively deprived squads could give him a trial spot if waiver wire options are barren. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Pass AL-only: Watch Middle infieldersAlexi Casilla, 2B, Minnesota Twins Shortstop J.J. Hardy (wrist) might be hitting the DL today. Casilla has been in the lineup the past four games and would be the likely beneficiary. You won't find homers here, but he makes enough contact to provide a serviceable batting average and some runs; this potent lineup doesn't discriminate in terms of batting order. Though the Twins might mix in Brendan Harris or Matt Tolbert, the switch-hitting Casilla provides more upside, especially if he can recapture his farm speed. Casilla might also be eligible at third base or shortstop in some formats. Shallow mixed: Pass Deep mixed: Pass AL-only: Watch Fantasy Baseball Diamond Market - NLAbout Tim Heaney
