The Texas Rangers won the Roy Oswalt sweepstakes, inking the veteran right-hander Tuesday, per Gerry Fraley. Expect Oswalt to be up with the big club in the next few weeks. His new league and home environment don't offer much comfort on their own, but Oswalt will have plenty of run support and a solid defense behind him. When healthy, he's crafty enough, even while turning 35 in August, to take advantage of these positives. He's still a darn good pitcher. He won't necessarily post top-36 mixed SP figures, but top-60 returns are well within reach for the remainder of 2012. Oswalt's arrival likely bumps Neftali Feliz (elbow) to the bullpen, whenever he returns to active duty, but maybe Texas will tire of Matt Harrison by the time Oswalt surfaces. Another injury could affect the rotation situation, as well. Stay tuned. About Tim Heaney
