We'll help you decide whether they're trade bait or worth your FAAB dollars in your fantasy baseball games.
To replace new disabled list inhabitant Miguel Olivo (groin), Mike Carp (sprained right shoulder) is being activated to join the Seattle Mariners. Carp, who had a batter's box breakthrough 2011, will settle in at DH while Jesus Montero and John Jaso split duties behind the dish. Down the road, he could return to left field, depending on Chone Figgins' utility and Franklin Gutierrez's return from a torn pectoral and plantar fasciitis in his heel. Don't ignore his experience at first base, which could also complicate the corner-infield matchup arrangement involving Justin Smoak, Kyle Seager and Alex Liddi. Carp is essentially clay for Seattle's lineup, which aids his long-term value. In many mixed fantasy leagues, the boom stick might've been overlooked as waiver wire fodder considering his early-season injury. His improvement versus southpaws last year further bolsters his case for full-time duty. About Tim Heaney
