Fantasy football sleepers: DT - Week 10

by Tim Heaney on November 10, 2011 @ 00:43:04 PDT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 6 to Week 9, unless otherwise stated.

Fantasy football sleepers: Defensive teams

Miami Dolphins vs. Washington Redskins

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Anyone facing this Redskins offense deserves mention as a one-week pickup. Though they've had defensive issues over the last month, Miami has averaged 3.5 sacks per game.
  • That's a great start into counting on them getting to John Beck, the 'Skins slinger who has been sacked 14 times and surrendered four interceptions in his last three games. Washington is missing their top receiver in Santana Moss (hand) and they're struggling to move the ball downfield on a consistent basis.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • The Broncos are moving to the read-option offense to accommodate Tim Tebow. It means the southpaw could become a more dangerous weapon. Regardless, he had been having trouble completing 50 percent of his passes and been sacked 15 times on the year. His style of play is susceptible to QB takedowns.
  • The Chiefs have scored two defensive TDs in the last month while also recording eight interceptions and two fumble recoveries. Their four sacks in that time should also see a boost against Tebow. Denver will probably be a better bet to put points on the board with a more comfortable Tebow, but that doesn't mean he can't contribute to other defensive fantasy statistics, especially playing at KC's Arrowhead Stadium.
