Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players that you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 7 to Week 10, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football busts: Wide receivers

Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 2

    Calvin Johnson, WR, Detroit Lions
    Megatron not a great option
  • Johnson is coming off one of his best games of the season: He caught eight passes for 84 yards against the Minnesota Vikings last week. He managed only two receptions for 27 yards the week before.
  • The Browns have only allowed 7.67 receptions and 124.3 receiving yards per game to this position. They've also allowed just two scores to the position in the last month (three games).
  • As bad as Cleveland's offense has been, they've been burned mainly by running backs. Detroit could rely heavily on running back Kevin Smith, especially with Matthew Stafford (knee) possibly still bothered by a previous knee injury.
Steve Breaston, Arizona Cardinals at St. Louis Rams

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Breaston's receptions and receiving yards are going in opposite direction: He has caught six, five and four passes in each of the last three weeks, respectively, while his receiving yards have climbed from 57 to 66 to 79. He has scored in each of the last two games.
  • St. Louis has allowed 8.00 receptions, 102.3 receiving yards and 1.00 receiving touchdowns per game to this position. St. Louis' pass defense has been better of late; they held the New Orleans Saints' Drew Brees to ONLY 223 yards and two scores last week. They also picked him off twice.
  • The Cards have been running fewer three-wide sets this year, and Breaston's involvement hasn't been as frequent as a result.
