Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 7 to Week 10, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football busts: Place kickers

David Akers, Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 1

  • Akers has been mighty consistent of late. He is averaging a healthy 2.67 field goal attempts (2.33 made) and 2.50 extra point tries (2.33 made) per game in his past six. The Eagles boast a strong offense, but their unpredictable rushing attack can leave the offense stalled deep in enemy territory, which bodes well for Akers.
  • Not only can the weather conditions at Soldier Field be unfriendly in the month of November, Akers will face a Bears defense that hasn't welcomed place kickers with open arms of late. Chicago has permitted only 1.00 field goal attempts (0.80 made) and 5.4 kicking points per game in their past five contests. Offenses have been able to find the end zone with relative ease, though, which has resulted in 3.20 extra point attempts per game in this time.

NEW - Rob Bironas, Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Since Vince Young took the reins of the Tennessee offense, Bironas has at least 10 kicking points in each game. He connected on two of his three field goal attempts last week and all five of his extra points.
  • That strong run could hit a snag this week, though. Houston has allowed just 1.00 field goal attempts and 2.00 extra point attempts per game, resulting in just 5.0 kicking points.
  • Houston has had extra time coming off their bye to prepare for shutting down the Titans' offense. Bironas' strong games in recent weeks have come against favorable matchups, too, so it might be too early to say he is back to his consistent No. 1 kicker status.
NEW - Jay Feely, New York Jets at New England Patriots

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Feely tied a season high with 10 kicking points last week. He converted all three of his field goal attempts and his lone extra point attempt.
  • Only two other teams have allowed fewer kicking points per game (3.7) than New England. They're allowing just 0.33 field goal attempts, though opponents have averaged 2.67 extra point attempts.
  • Was the New England defense "disrespected" last week by head coach Bill Belichick? That's open to interpretation, but expect the Pats' D to come out fired up this week. They've shown in the past they don't take slights lightly. Might we see a doughnut from the Jets offense, especially with a rookie QB on the road in New England?
