Fantasy football free agents: Look to acquire

The following players will have greater significance in deep fantasy football leagues. In shallow fantasy football leagues, they are not as high of a priority but should be considered based on your fantasy football team's needs.

St. Louis Rams (82 percent)

Last week, they were a one-week play in this space. They were hardly perfect versus John Skelton's Arizona Cardinals, but they brought the QB down three times, continuing to extract more punch from their pass rush. Their D-line improvement plus impending matchups with the QB-challenged and/or sack- and turnover-friendly Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks, along with a home rematch with the Cardinals, make the Rams more clickable.

Fantasy football free agents: One-week plays

Wake up and acquire the Dolphins

The following fantasy football pickups are for those who need injury or bye week replacements. They are not players you immediately acquire - unless your team is in dire straights. Some have, however, shown some life and should be followed in case they materialize as options beyond their temporary use.

Miami Dolphins (79 percent)

Over the last month, Miami's D hasn't been a reliable fantasy defense, mainly because of their lack of takeaways. But at least they've averaged 3.5 sacks per contest. Getting to the QB is typically a great place to start generating turnovers. Miami has a decent chance to capitalize at home in Week 10 against the Washington Redskins' injury- and inconsistency-riddled offense. With John Beck starting over the last three weeks, they've yielded 14 sacks, including 10 against the Buffalo Bills. A reasonable dice roll....
