With free agency set to open Friday, Feb. 29, teams across the National Football League are busy ridding themselves of nasty contracts in an effort to clear cap room. Each year this happens and there are always a few surprise cap casualties. This year is no exception with the St. Louis Rams deciding to part with long-time wide receiver Isaac Bruce. Bruce had spent his entire 14-year career with the organization, counting among his accomplishments with the team a Super Bowl win in 1999 and one of the key members of the "Greatest Show on Turf."

However, those days were long-gone and Bruce was not the player he used to be. He still showed he could be a serviceable veteran as he caught 55 passes for 733 receiving yards and four touchdowns. His numbers have been on a decline, though, despite solid production in recent years; he no longer has the speed he used to. If he does decide to call it a career, Bruce will sit at third on the league's all-time career receiving yards chart with 14,109.

For the Rams, they will likely be looking to pick up another receiver this offseason, but for now, wide receiver Drew Bennett should step in to fill that No. 2 role. He caught just 33 passes for 375 yards last year but had his best month of the season in December, hauling in 10 passes for 137 yards and one touchdown. He is also a former 1,000-yard receiver during his days with the Titans.
