Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn (finger) is done for the year after learning the break in his right index finger has been getting worse since he tried to play through the injury. According to team sources, the break in his right index finger was also starting to damage tendons, and the team didn't want to take the risk that Quinn would tear the tendons from the bone.

Quinn's first stint as an NFL starter, which began in soap opera fashion, ends with a mixed set of results. He was sharp in his first start (23-for-35, 239 yards, two touchdown passes against no picks) but didn't win. In his second outing, he was sloppy (14-for-36, 185 yards, no touchdown passes or interceptions), but he drove Cleveland for the game-winning field goal. In his third start, a rough one, head coach Romeo Crennel pulled him in an effort to, according to Crennel, give his club a spark, inherently sending mixed signals to his young signal caller and the organization.

In roughly two and a half games' worth of action, Quinn completed a mere 50.6 percent of his 89 pass attempts for 518 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Obviously, fantasy owners in single-year leagues can discard him. In full-retention keeper leagues, it's not wise to drop him, even though the Browns haven't provided a very stable environment for either of their quarterbacks.

Derek Anderson is expected to finish the season as the starting quarterback. After he surprised with a spectacular 2007 season, the 6-foot-6, 230-pounder was a disappointment to naïve fantasy owners in 2008. Although Cleveland's problems this year have gone far beyond questions about their man under center, fantasy owners should not be in any rush to acquire Anderson.
