KFFL's Fantasy Baseball Rankings Report gives fantasy baseball players the scoop on any happenings that have significantly affected KFFL's fantasy baseball rankings and projections.

There isn't often much earth-shattering news that comes from the first week of Grapefruit League and Cactus League play. Dig in, but don't adjust your cheat sheets too much.

Second basemen

Aaron Hill, Toronto Blue Jays

Hill's projection will require periodic review. He says he's free of symptoms from the concussion he suffered last season and has been for months now. He broke out in the power department in 2007, and he seems to be forgotten in drafts. He's definitely worth a flier near the end of a mixed league draft.

Third basemen

Joe Crede, Minnesota Twins

Now that he has a home, Crede becomes a tad more of an intriguing proposition. He joins the majors' fourth best offense (surprisingly) from a season ago. Alas, back problems are his demon, and they tend to be chronic. He's worth a gamble in the final few rounds of mixed leagues.

Outfielders

Ryan Spilborghs, Colorado Rockies

There was reason to be a bit skeptical of Spilborghs' ability to play center field every day and bat leadoff. There still is, but a review of his projection prompted skepticism in those numbers. Don't overlook the 29-year-old near the end of a deep mixed draft; he has upside, but some might overvalue it.

Daniel Murphy, New York Mets

Manager Jerry Manuel said that he expects Murphy to see the bulk of the work in left field this season. Fantasy owners shouldn't overreact; he has to demonstrate that he can hit lefties consistently. Outfielder Ryan Church is still a more valuable piece of the lineup than Murphy, so don't read too much into it.

Seth Smith, Colorado Rockies

The Rox are high on this left-handed bat who hit southpaws fairly well in the minors; he's the front-runner for time in left field. The 26-year-old doesn't offer a ton of upside, but he's intriguing as a flier in NL-only setups.
