Fantasy football sleepers: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 2 to Week 5, unless otherwise stated.

Fantasy football sleepers: Tight ends

Todd Heap, Baltimore Ravens at New England Patriots

Baltimore Ravens TE Todd Heap
Heap of potential help

Fantasy value: No. 1 or flex

  • Heap's looks have fluctuated between seven and five since his 11 in the season-opening win over the New York Jets. Though he's down in the pecking order, you can probably still count on him for at least a handful of catches. He has 18 in for 210 yards in five games this year.
  • First-year starting cornerbacks Devin McCourty and Darius Butler have struggled for New England, who might have to give them extra help to deal with Baltimore wideouts Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason. This could open up more of the field for Heap.
  • New England is giving up 5.00 receptions (tied for 11th), 69.7 receiving yards (fifth most) and 0.33 receiving touchdowns (tied for 13th) per game to this position in the last month.

Andrew Quarless, Green Bay Packers vs. Miami Dolphins

Fantasy value: Flex or bench

  • Quarless caught four passes for 51 yards last week, including a key 21-yarder to set up kicker Mason Crosby's potential game-winner late in the fourth quarter. He was targeted six times.
Green Bay might scale back the passing game some if quarterback Aaron Rodgers (concussion) can't go, but quarterback Matt Flynn has spent three years learning this offense, so they shouldn't completely abandon the pass.
  • Miami has surrendered 6.00 receptions (tied for fifth most), 7.77 receiving yards (fourth) and 0.67 receiving touchdowns (sixth) per game to this position over the last month.
  • With Jermichael Finley (knee) expected to miss eight to 10 weeks, Quarless should see the field a fair bit. Donald Lee (chest) is also expected to be out for a couple of weeks, and Tom Crabtree is more of a blocking tight end.
Pick up Quarless in all leagues if you have a room for a second TE or need to replace Finley; he's available in almost all leagues polled.
