Fantasy football sleepers: QB - Week 14

by Tim Heaney on December 10, 2009 @ 00:00:00 PDT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players that you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 8 to Week 13, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football sleepers: Quarterbacks

David Garrard, Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Miami Dolphins

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

    David Garrard, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars
    Start Garrard with confidence
  • Though he's sacked more than potatoes, Garrard has given some OK performances in the last few weeks, topping 260 passing yards twice in his last five games and throwing just one pick since Week 8. He has five touchdowns in his last five outings.
  • Garrard may be turning on the passing jets against a depleted Dolphins secondary. If DG can avoid the Dolphins' competent pass rush, he'll be able to add to Miami's average of 255.3 yards, 1.25 throwing touchdowns and 0.25 rushing scores allowed per game to quarterbacks.
  • Miami's secondary has taken some lumps after the season-ending injury to cornerback Will D. Allen (knee). Miami has also proven competent against the run, so we may see more of versatile tailback Maurice Jones-Drew in the passing game.
