Fantasy football sleepers - Week 2: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

Fantasy football sleepers: Place kickers

Lawrence Tynes, New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys

Fantasy value: High-end No. 1

  • The spotty Tynes was spot on Sunday, nailing all three field goals attempts (long of 45) and both extra points against the Washington Redskins.
  • The Cowboys D should allow a similar amount of chances. Dallas allowed two field goal attempts (both missed) and three point-after tries to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
  • Kicker John Carney combined for 11 kicking points in two games as the Giants' boot against Dallas last season.

Josh Brown, St. Louis Rams at Washington Redskins

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 1 or bench

  • Brown missed his only field goal attempt last week (37 yards) as the Rams were shut out.
  • Luckily, the strong-legged Brown faces the 'Skins, who allowed (forced?) the New York Giants to attempt three field goals last week in addition to allowing two extra points.
  • It's safe to guess the Rams will settle for a bunch of field goals against this defense, which has an added protection against the run with new defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.

Olindo Mare, Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 1 or bench

  • Mare converted four extra-point tries in the opener. A rejuvenated Seahawks offense means more productivity for its kicker, who still managed a decent season last year for how hard it was for Seattle's offense to contribute.
  • The Niners allowed the Arizona Cardinals to make three field goals and one extra point in Week 1 and have been susceptible to the position for the past few years.
  • In two meetings with San Fran in '08, Mare drilled all five of his field goal appearances and all seven of his extra points for 22 kicking points.

NEW - Matt Prater, Denver Broncos vs. Cleveland Browns

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 1 or bench

  • Prater knocked through both of his field goal attempts in Week 1 against the Cincinnati Bengals, hitting one from 50 yards out.
  • Cleveland allowed four extra points and three field goals in as many tries to the Minnesota Vikings last week.
  • Denver's offense is still gelling and may need to rely on Prater's leg more than they would like to this week.
