Fantasy football sleepers: PK - Week 11

by Tim Heaney on November 18, 2010 @ 12:35:00 PDT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 7 to Week 10, unless otherwise stated.

Fantasy football sleepers: Place kickers

New Orleans Saints PK Garrett Hartley

Ryan Succop, Kansas City Chiefs vs. Arizona Cardinals

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Succop has at least two field goal attempts in his last three games, making five of seven in that time. He's 13-for-17 on the year - not incredibly strong - but he's 4-for-4 on kicks between 40 and 49 yards out.
  • The Cards have been an opposing kicker's dream all year and have yielded 3.75 field goal tries and 3.00 one-point attempts per game in the last four weeks.
  • Succop can be used as a one-week play based on this promising matchup.

Garrett Hartley, New Orleans Saints vs. Seattle Seahawks

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • The Saints looked like their old offensively robust selves before the bye. Coming off their week of rest, New Orleans expects to welcome back running back Reggie Bush (leg), too. Hartley has tallied at least seven kicking points in three of his last four games, including 18 in his last two. He's 6-for-7 on field goals in his last four contests.
  • Seattle has allowed 2.25 field goal tries and 2.50 touchdown punctuations per outing. They were routed by the Oakland Raiders (Week 8) and the New York Giants (Week 9). That bodes well for the Week 11 home team.
  • Hartley should be acquired in all formats now that his offense is starting to kick back up. His three opponents following Week 11 - Dallas Cowboys, Cincinnati Bengals and St. Louis Rams - are also easy on the statistical eyes.
