In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 11 to Week 16, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football sleepers: Defensive teams

San Francisco 49ers at St. Louis Rams

Fantasy value: High-end No. 1

  • The Niners are averaging 3.17 sacks, 1.17 interceptions and 1.83 fumble recoveries per game. That puts them tied for fourth with 9.8 fantasy points per game.
  • The Rams are averaging only 11.5 offensive points, 3.00 sacks and 2.17 interceptions per game.
  • Quarterback Keith Null has yet to throw for more than 173 yards in a game. Running back Steven Jackson (back) missed last week's game, and his status this week is up in the air. St. Louis is just plain bad on offense; bank on San Fran even more if your league awards points for few offensive points allowed.

Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Fantasy value: No. 1 or bench

  • Denver has managed just 7.7 fantasy points per game; they're averaging only 1.67 sacks, 1.33 interceptions and 1.00 fumble recoveries per game. They're allowing 21.5 offensive points per game.
  • Well, they don't have to worry about the points as much because KC is averaging just 16.0 per game. They're also allowing 2.33 sacks and 1.50 interceptions per game.
  • Finally, Denver still has the playoffs to play for; the Chiefs don't. Well Kansas City might like to play the role of spoiler, expect the Broncos to come out fired up for Week 17.
