Fantasy football sleepers: DT - Week 13

by Tim Heaney on December 2, 2010 @ 02:49:51 PDT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players you wouldn’t necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 9 to Week 12, unless otherwise stated.

Fantasy football sleepers: Defensive teams

Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 1

  • The Titans' defense has taken a fantasy tumble, averaging just 2.00 sacks and 0.67 interceptions per game after being one of the top fantasy units early on, especially with their pass rush. They still rank as a top-10 sack unit on the year.
  • The Jags offer a chance for Tennessee to regain some mojo. Jacksonville has allowed 3.33 sacks and 1.33 interceptions per game. David Garrard is a magnet for opposing sack artists, and the Titans did a fine job limiting Maurice Jones-Drew's damage in their Week 6 affair.

St. Louis Rams at Arizona Cardinals

Fantasy value: Low-end No. 1

  • While they haven't been aggressive in producing takeaways in the last month, the Rams have at least reached opposing quarterbacks with 2.67 sacks per contest. In the last two weeks, their other stats have been negatively affected with matchups against the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos.
  • The Cards? Much more welcoming, having yielded 3.50 sacks, 0.50 interceptions and 0.75 fumble recoveries. They've spent most of their time recording catch-up yardage and points. Derek Anderson has allowed his opponents to laugh most of the time.
