Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 5 to Week 8, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football busts: Wide receivers

Hakeem Nicks, New York Giants vs. San Diego Chargers

Fantasy value: No. 3 or flex

  • Consider playing Nicks in point-per-reception leagues more so than non-PPR formats. His touchdown in Week 7 against the Arizona Cardinals was a fluke after a wild deflection put the ball in his hands for a 62-yard scoring "strike." His targets have decreased the past two weeks, and quarterback Eli Manning is struggling.
  • The Chargers have been exceptionally strong in the past month against wide receivers, but this may appear to be quite deceiving since they have faced the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and Oakland Raiders, respectively, in the past three weeks. A closer look shows the Bolts sitting pretty as the second best pass defense against wideouts for the duration of the season.

NEW - Roy Williams, Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

    Roy Williams, WR, DAL
    Don't be fooled

Fantasy value: No. 3 or flex

  • Dallas' offense has turned it around through the air, but Williams continues to take a backseat. He was targeted a season-high eight times in Week 8, but he came away with just two receptions for 19 yards. He scored for the second time this season, though.
  • Despite working on their communication during the offseason, Williams and quarterback Tony Romo are still not on the same page. Opponents aren't giving Williams many double teams, either. It's hard to see them improving their communication on the road against a division rival that has played some strong pass D.
  • The Eagles have surrendered just 10.50 receptions and 100.0 receiving yards per game to this position; that works out to 9.52 yards per reception, which is the only average not in double digits in the league. They've also only surrendered 0.25 scoring grabs to wideouts per contest.
  • Williams faced the Eagles only once last year (Week 17) after joining Dallas; he caught just two passes for four yards.
