Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 12 to Week 15, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Wide receivers

Greg Jennings, Green Bay Packers vs. New York Giants

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 2

  • Jennings has averaged 4.75 receptions for 80.8 yards and 0.75 touchdowns per game. Last week, he caught just four passes for 30 yards and a score. That was with Matt Flynn behind center, though. His cause should be helped with Aaron Rodgers (concussion) likely returning.
  • Still, the Giants are giving up just 12.25 receptions for 128.8 yards and 0.75 touchdowns per game to this position.
  • Green Bay Packers WR Greg Jennings
    A-Rod can't save Jennings' outlook
  • The Giants have done a great job limiting big plays to wideouts. They've surrendered just 33 catches of 20-plus yards (tied for the third fewest) and are allowing only 10.5 yards per reception to this position over the last month. Donald Driver, Jordy Nelson or James Jones might see more action if New York takes away the deep ball.

Chad Ochocinco, Cincinnati Bengals vs. San Diego Chargers

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Ochocinco is averaging 4.25 receptions for just 61.0 yards per game. He hasn't scored since Week 11.
  • The Chargers have given up just 8.75 receptions for 89.3 yards and 0.50 touchdowns per game to this position. The receptions are tied for the fourth lowest average since Week 11 while the receiving yards are the second fewest in that time.
  • The loss of Terrell Owens (knee) might see Ochocinco's targets go up, but he'll also probably be the focus of most of the coverage from San Diego.
  • Whichever of San Diego's two top corners Antoine Cason or Quentin Jammer line up on 85 should be able to do a decent job on him, especially if he's limited by the bone spurs in his ankle. Ochocinco said the injury might limit his snaps on Sunday.

Mario Manningham, New York Giants at Green Bay Packers

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Manningham has averaged 3.50 receptions for 52.8 yards and 0.75 touchdowns per game. Part of that came as New York's top option with Hakeem Nicks (leg) and Steve E. Smith (pectoral) out. With Nicks back, Manningham won't face as much coverage.
  • No team has allowed fewer points than the Packers have to this position in the last month. They're giving up just 5.75 receptions for 70.5 receiving yards. They haven't allowed a score to opposing wideouts in that time.
  • Green Bay has the corners to match up against Manningham and Nicks with Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams. Even if they get a favorable matchup, Packers nickel back Sam Shields is a decent defensive back.
