Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 7 to Week 10, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Wide receivers

Andre Johnson, Houston Texans at New York Jets

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 2

  • Johnson caught nine passes for 146 yards and one score in Houston's last-second loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Over the last month (three games), he has 20 receptions for 293 yards and two scores.
  • New York is surrendering just 9.33 receptions for 117.7 receiving yards and 0.67 receiving touchdowns per game to opposing wideouts.
  • Darrelle Revis should draw the assignment on Johnson. When the two met last year, in Week 1, Revis held AJ to just four receptions for 35 yards. You can't sit Johnson, but temper your expectations for him this week.

Jabar Gaffney, Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers

Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson
Back to Revis Island

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Gaffney has caught either three or four passes for 57 or 54 yards in each of Denver's last three games over the last month. His targets, however, have been going down in that time from nine in Week 7 to seven in Week 8 and five last weekend.
  • San Diego is giving up only 9.00 receptions and 121.7 receiving yards per game to this position. They've also surrendered only one receiving touchdown to opposing wideouts.
  • In two matchups against San Diego last year, Gaffney caught just four passes for 82 yards.

NEW - Santana Moss, Washington Redskins at Tennessee Titans

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Moss has 14 receptions for 147 yards in three games over the last month. He has just one receiving touchdown in that time.
  • Tennessee is allowing just 11.33 receptions for 137.7 receiving yards per game to wideouts. They're giving up just 12.1 yards per receptions, which is the sixth lowest average in the league in the last month.
  • Washington's D is giving up 5.0 yards per carry to opposing backs in the last month. With Vince Young (ankle) and Kerry Collins (calf) both banged up, Tennessee could rely heavily on their running game. This could, in turn, limit the snaps the 'Skins have on offense.
