Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down the fantasy football sleepers of the week. We will avoid marquee names because players of that caliber are rarely benched, regardless of their matchup. Instead, we will focus on the players that make your fantasy lineup decisions stressful each week. Read on to learn which midrange to low-end players that you wouldn't necessarily consider that you need to get into your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 9 to Week 12, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football busts: Running backs

Kevin Smith, Detroit Lions at Cincinnati Bengals

Kevin Smith, RB, Detroit Lions
Keep him in the director's chair

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 2

  • Smith hasn't done much for fantasy owners lately; he hasn't surpassed 67 rushing yards in a game since Week 3. He also hasn't scored since Week 4. Last week, he ran the ball 18 times for just 43 yards.
  • Cincy is allowing just 61.5 rushing yards and 0.25 rushing touchdowns per game to this position.
  • With a hampered Calvin Johnson (knee), the Bengals won't have much else to fear in Detroit's offense and should be able to stack the box against Smith.
  • Point-per-reception owners should take note: Smith catches a lot of passes, and the Bengals have given up a decent number (6.00) per game to this position.

Chris Brown, Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars

Fantasy value: No. 2 or flex

  • Brown has received a decent amount of work in the last two weeks, registering 11 carries in each game. He has rushed for 92 yards in that time while scoring once.
  • Jacksonville is allowing just 61.5 rushing yards per game to this position; those yards come on 18.3 rushing attempts per game. Opposing backs are averaging just 3.4 yards per carry against them. They've also allowed just 0.25 rushing touchdowns to enemy backs in that time.
  • Jacksonville could be without their top cornerback, Rashean Mathis (groin), this week; they already have a suspect pass defense, so Houston might choose to attack the Jags through the air.
