Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 7 to Week 10, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Running backs

LeGarrette Blount, Tampa Bay Buccaneers at San Francisco 49ers

Fantasy value: No. 2 or No. 3

  • Blount rumbled for 91 yards and a score on 19 carries (4.8 yards per carry) against the Carolina Panthers in Week 10. He has 329 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 65 carries over the last month.
  • San Francisco is allowing only 64.7 rushing yards per game to this position. They've allowed just one rushing score in their last three games.
  • Backs have found plenty of work receiving the ball, however, which might mean Cadillac Williams finds the field more. He is the stronger receiver and pass protector of the two. The 49ers are giving up 7.33 receptions for 43.0 yards per game to opposing backs.

Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins vs. Chicago Bears

Miami Dolphins RB Ronnie Brown
Brown won't do much for you

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 3

  • Brown has carried the ball 46 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns over the last month. He caught five passes for 40 yards in Week 9 but has just two receptions for 27 yards in the other three games during that stretch.
  • The Bears are yielding 77.7 rushing yards and 0.67 rushing touchdowns per game to this position. They're also giving up 4.00 receptions for 22.0 yards to backs.
  • Offensive tackle Jake Long (shoulder) might be forced to miss the Thursday night affair. Center Joe Berger (knee) has already been declared out. A struggling line might find it tougher to run the ball this week.
  • Tyler Thigpen might give Miami a more dynamic threat behind center, but until he demonstrates that, Chicago should focus on stopping Brown and Ricky Williams this week.

NEW - Marshawn Lynch, Seattle Seahawks at New Orleans Saints

Fantasy value: No. 3 or flex

  • Lynch is averaging 14.3 carries for 43.3 yards per game over the last month. He has scored just one touchdown and has caught only two passes for 33 yards.
  • New Orleans is giving up 91.7 rushing yards and 0.67 rushing touchdowns per game to opposing backs. They've limited running backs to just 3.33 receptions for 173 yards per game in that time, too. The receiving average is the lowest in the league.
  • The Saints have had an extra week to prepare for this game, and they could have Reggie Bush (fibula) back. Seattle's D hasn't performed well away from home, and they could easily fall behind in this game. If that happens, Lynch probably wouldn't be used as often.
