Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistics are from Week 6 to Week 9, unless otherwise noted.

Fantasy football busts: Running backs

Tim Hightower, Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 2

    Tim Hightower, RB, Arizona Cardinals
    Temper your expectations for Hightower
  • Hightower continues to split work with rookie Beanie Wells, but he has averaged 15.75 utilizations, 3.25 red zone plays, 65.5 offensive yards, 0.75 total scores and 3.75 receptions per contest.
  • The Seahawks have not been friendly to this position of late, averaging 92.7 ground yards, 0.67 rushing sores and just 4.00 receptions yielded per contest.
  • On the bright side, Hightower totaled 58 offensive yards, caught four passes and found the end zone once in his Week 6 trip to Seattle. On the contrary, it's safer to expect the Cards to challenge Seattle's shaky pass D more often.
Julius Jones, Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals

Fantasy value: No. 2 or flex

  • A disappointing player for most of the season, Jones has shown some fantasy life in the last two weeks, rattling off 92 rushing yards, eight receptions, 110 receiving yards and one score.
  • Of course, his Week 9 romp came against the Detroit Lions. The Cards are no such pushovers, allotting just 105.8 ground yards, 0.75 rushing scores and 2.50 receptions to enemy carriers.
  • These stats would be much better if not for a 270-yard rushing performance by the Carolina Panthers in Week 8. The Seahawks offer no such potency on the ground.
  • In fact, in Week 6, Jones mustered five yards on five carries as the Cardinals held Seattle to 14 rushing yards. Jones also accomplished little in limited action against the Cards last year.

NEW - Correll Buckhalter, Denver Broncos at Washington Redskins

Fantasy value: No. 2 or flex

  • Buckhalter is coming off his two worst rushing efforts of the season. He ran for just 16 yards on eight carries against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 8 and only 24 yards on nine carries against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 9. He remains in a tandem setup with rookie Knowshon Moreno.
  • The Redskins were gashed for 166 yards and two scores by the Atlanta Falcons' Michael Turner last week. Despite that, they're allowing just 104.7 rushing yards and 0.67 rushing scores per game to opposing backs.
  • The Broncos appear set to replace left guard Ben Hamilton with Russ Hochstein. The latter has been taking first-team snaps in practice. He'll be one of the blockers asked to deal with Albert Haynesworth, arguably the top defensive tackle in the league.
