Fantasy football busts: QB | RB | WR | TE | PK | DT

In this article KFFL breaks down fantasy football busts of the week. Some high-level players will be included, because you need to know when is time to sit a player even though it may not seem appropriate. Primarily, however, we will address the midrange to low-end fantasy options that you rack your brain over each week. Read on to learn which of these players that you wouldn't want in your lineup.

Note: All statistical averages are from Week 4 to Week 7, unless otherwise specified.

Fantasy football busts: Quarterbacks

Matt Schaub, Houston Texans at Indianapolis Colts

Matt Schaub, QB, Houston Texans
Running game may limit Schaub

Fantasy value: Midrange No. 1

  • Schaub threw for 305 yards and two scores against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6, but before that averaged just 194 passing yards and one touchdown per game in two games against the New York Giants and Oakland Raiders.
  • Indy is giving up only 188.3 passing yards (fifth fewest) and 1.00 passing touchdowns per game to this position.
  • Houston ran over the Colts in Week 1 with Arian Foster going for 231 rushing yards. Schaub tossed just 17 passes, completing nine, for 107 yards and a score. It's probably safe to say Houston will lean on the run heavily to keep Indy's offense off the field.

Donovan McNabb, Washington Redskins at Detroit Lions

Fantasy value: Bench

  • Donnie Mac is averaging 232.0 passing yards per game, but he is throwing only 1.00 passing touchdowns per game. He is also tossing 1.50 interceptions per game.
  • Detroit has surrendered only 191.0 passing yards and 1.67 passing touchdowns per game. They're also picking off 1.33 passes per game.
  • You might be tempted to start McNabb, but avoid that temptation. Coming off a bye, Detroit should be well-prepared for the 'Skins. Detroit's strong defensive line, contrasted with Washington's injury-hit offensive counterpart, combined the crowd noise at Ford Field could make it tough for Washington to stay in sync.
  • Detroit has also given up 122.7 rushing yards and 5.0 yards per carry per game to opposing running backs, so Washington could ground their attack in Week 7.
